This morning it was snowing as we started our walk. The light layer of snow covered up the slick ice spots making the walk just a little more dangerous than usual. After the walk I drove to Pekin stopping first at Stock and Field to pick up 6 more bags of grain only to find they were sold out of what I usually buy. I didn't buy anything. The store was busy with people getting bargains from the going out of business sale. From there I went to Aldi and picked up $125.49 of groceries buying 12 pounds of ground beef and a 6 pounds of chicken breast that was on sale for $1.69 a pound along with the ingredients to make a big pot of chili and the ingredients for haystacks for our Sunday meal. As soon as I got home I started making the chili as today's weather was the perfect weather for a big pot of chili. By the time it was done I thought it was delicious. Of course hunger is the very best cook and I was hungry as it was 2:00 pm by the time it was all finished. I ate a bowl then put the rest into 21 pint containers. Karin came to work horses and took a couple home with her, our airbnb renter took a pint and the rest was put out on the porch to cool before stacking in the freezer. Anna dropped off the girls while she went to visit her mom at the hospital. Phil picked them up shortly after. Rhoda, Sarah and Taunya stopped by this evening and dropped off Zion, Iris and Eden while they ate dinner at Gils. The girls had such a good time playing together and with us old folks. Below are a few pictures of the evening.
Rhoda, Sarah and Taunya brought back lots of leftover goodies for us. We sat and enjoyed a good visit before they had to leave. We really enjoyed having grandchildren over. It was not very nice to be outside today, cold and damp but having company made the day seem bright. The lady that bought Jewel's 2018 filly sent us an update, she wrote: Hello Judy I just wanted to send you a photo of a Inez the other day. She's in training now and she's doing wonderfully! She's so smart and willing and picks things up super quickly. And she's developing into a beautiful young horse!
