Today is even colder than yesterday. We are supposed to drop all the way down to -8 that is 8 BELOW ZERO brrrr. The good thing about this extreme cold is the lake is frozen and smooth as glass. Joan's kids, Faith and Berlica, had a lot of fun ice skating.
I took a short video of them from off mom's deck.
The ice is perfect and Joan is inviting anyone that wants to come ice skating after church on Sunday to feel free. She is even serving FREE hot chocolate!
Joan spent all night and most of the day with mom. The Palliative care nurse practitioner came today. Mom's pain is sore muscle or a pulled tendon and just needs rest. The bad news is Palliative care does not cover the equipment needed. We will be looking for a sit to stand lift and a better hospital bed. The one that mom qualified for is not really what we need. We need a bed that can be raised and lowered and were told the insurance will only cover those if the patient is paralyzed. We also need a sit to stand lift which isn't supplied and there was also a lot of confusion about the wheel chair. Crazy but that may not be covered either. I seemed to spend most of today feeding the fires and was not able to keep the house up to the target of 69 degrees. That meant the furnace had to kick on and that burns expensive propane. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful we have a back up to the wood burners just a little disappointed that the wood stoves couldn't keep up with the extreme cold. A very nice update came in from the lady that bought Lily's 2017 colt by Valiant. She writes: I've never had a horse like him. Ever since he was young when he sees me he gets really excited and whinnies and run to me. He has also chased me through the woods and up and down hills around the barn. If I hide from him he'll stomp his front leg and whinnie and start looking for me. He's like Lassie.
