Last Minute

It was still reasonably warm when we awoke but that changed with a chilly breeze that brought in the cold. By late afternoon it was freezing. Ruth was with mom. I had a quick run up to the apartment to get the heat on for the guest today then made omelets for breakfast.  After breakfast the deli at the Kroger on Sterling was called to order 200 pieces of chicken for the Meister Christmas next Saturday. That worked out well and I told the lady taking the order I would come in today to pay for it. At 8:50 am I left for Aldi, picked up $77.00 worth of groceries then drove to Kroger to pay for the chicken and wouldn't you know my debit card would not work there. It was declined twice yet it worked fine at Aldi.  I used my discover card even though I was sure there was money in the account. As soon as I got home I got online to check my balance and there is plenty of money in the checking so don't know what that was all about. The groceries were put away and I started on the cooking. Tomorrow is all church caroling and after caroling we eat supper at the church so I made a pan of cheesy carrots and then 3 different desserts all using different pots and pans. Clean up was put off until later. Mike and Diane hauled Blueberry and Sheena back out to Middle Grove then Mike wanted a little help working with Lea. We think she may be claustrophobic as she panics once in the trailer. Mike had her follow him in then went right out the side door.

She did reasonably well.
Below is a video of the next couple times. She is still not safe for unloading by anyone that isn't aware of her quirks. She tries to unload too quickly. Mike worked with her to slow her down some.
She gets anxious if we try to make her wait. She was put in with Sally, Dancer and Titus. It was funny how Titus very carefully checked her out and when she lifted her back leg he ran over to Dancer for safety. She would like to be in with Evan and I may end up putting her back in with him once the ground freezes better.
Rhoda took Iris and Zeke to see Santa today and took Santa a special picture of baby Jesus that Iris had colored.
He was a good guy and both of the kids were glad to sit on his lap.
Check out those smiles! Zeke may or may not have been bribed with a chocolate donut.
This evening it was decided that we needed to get gifts for each of the great grandchildren for the Meister Christmas next Saturday. We weren't going to have gifts this year at the Meister Christmas but when Ruth asked where the Santa suit was, then realized if we don't do gifts we don't need a Santa, we quickly changed our mind. We worked together found some on Amazon that could be delivered in 3 days and ordered them for Spark's, John's, Ruth's, and mine. Joan is going to order hers when she gets home and Katie is going to order for all of Beth's. Diane will order for hers and Rachel's are too young.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute. Crazy how quickly that job got accomplished. Ruth bought 60 gift bags at 25 cents each to put them in. If the gifts don't fit we will have a wrapping party.  We have been enjoying the heat from the wood burner this evening and brought in enough wood to keep it going all night. The wind is really cold.
