Father's Day 2024

We had a blessed Father's Day both in church and at the farm. I was not getting texts on the phone Saturday and when Rhonda called to ask for a ride to church she told me she had texted a couple times asking. The texting service Diane and I had worked very hard to get on the phone was storing them for me. By the time I switched over to the old texting at least 20 came through. Marvin and Gail were serving lunch today and Rhonda was supposed to help and needed to be there early but all was well when we arrived. They had unexpected help and had everything going well so much so that we didn't need to help. Mom had decided not to come to church as she can't hear anything yet. Her appointment at the Ear Nose and Throat clinic is Monday at 3:00 pm. Diane and Ruth will be taking her. Molly brought Nancy to church. Nancy wasn't dressed very appropriately and we had to tease Molly. We sister made a plan right then and there to throw the dress away once home and find Nancy some better clothes. Caleb Plattner had the morning service on Genesis 3 click HERE to watch that. Craig Stickling had the afternoon message click HERE to watch that. We took Nancy to mom's straight after church then went into the barn to check the fridge. Imagine my surprise first to see the fridge was working fine. The guests had pulled it out and were not able to move it back but plugged it back in. They had just filled it when they arrived with so much warm stuff it couldn't cool it all down quickly. BUT the biggest surprise was the drawing Kathy Obergfel did for the barn was back.  That went missing last Sunday and I thought the group that used the barn had probably accidently broken it and thrown it away. I was very thankful that was back.

Ruth brought clothes over for Nancy to change into and her ugly dress was thrown away.
For Father's Day dinner we had Phil and Anna's family, Anna's family, Nolan and Sarah's family and Joan's family. Since we had such good strong help I asked Phil, Austin, Nolan, Ash and Anna to help move the fridge back. This was easier said than done, that thing weighs a ton and it can't be just slid back but they got the job accomplished.
Supper was delicious, everyone brought food and  we had lots of tasty dishes to choose from. Joan was busy helping with her grandchildren below.
After supper we turned the bouncy house on for Joan's grandchildren.

Funny how none of mine wanted to play in it, they couldn't wait to get out to fish and swim while Joan's had fished and swam all day yesterday.
It was so hot outside that we older adults just enjoyed sitting and visiting in the barn while the parents and kids enjoyed the lake. Gertie came with me to take Nancy home.  I was thankful for the time we had together for talking, we just don't get the chance to do that as much as we would like. Gertie told me about her sisters and her brother Rich. By the time we got back it was after 9:00 pm. Mark drove me over to the playground so I could get the golf cart. The left overs were loaded up and brought home. The Airbnb guests for the barn left a nice 5 star review: The perfect place to host a birthday party for 10 year old boys! Judith was responsive to anything that came up. We would recommend this airbnb and would love to come back sometime!  Mark had turned the Chosen on but he was too tired to watch it. I stayed up and watched so got to bed very late again, but what a wonderful day of church and family. I'm so very thankful and feel blessed beyond measure.
