WE Have a Floor

The trucks started to arrive at 6:15 am to start the work of pouring a concrete floor for the new barn.  There were about 10 trucks to start but a few left before the cement trucks started to arrive.

The cement trucks started pulling in shortly after that.
At one point there was a truck inside, a truck outside getting hosed out, one ready to back in and one waiting his turn to back in.
A short video below of one of the trucks getting washed out.
It was only 33 degrees outside and so windy that Irish and her colt were left inside until later this afternoon.  By the time outside chores were done I was chilled and made a big pot of chili. Amy arrived just as that was getting finished up, tasted it and mentioned, "that has a kick to it."  Amy came bearing gifts. She brought a fresh baked angel cake with fruit to go with it for our dinner tonight along with a t bone steak.

We will have the steak on Sunday but the cake would perfect for our dinner at mom's tonight. Amy and I walked out to check the barn and they were finishing up with some really cool buffer machines.
After Amy left I just had time to tease and get Skye covered.  Irish will be teased tomorrow there wasn't enough time to get to her before I needed to be at mom's.  Rachel surprised me with another birthday cake she made while at mom's this morning and it had layers of Bavarian cream inside.
Mark brought some of the dinner and some of the dinner tonight was made here at mom's.  Below is mom's plate.
We really did feast and everything was delicious.  We each had to try two kinds of cake and decided both were 'the BEST!'  Thanks so much Amy and Rachel for your efforts. They were not wasted on us, we enjoyed each bite.  Mom even had seconds on the cakes. It was a fun evening and an amazing day. That barn has been a dream of mine for about 38 years and it is finally happening.
