Siblings Day

Siblings Day is marked on April 10. As the name suggests, the day is meant to celebrate the bond between siblings. The day was started by a woman named Claudia Evart after she lost her brother and sister. The first Siblings Day was first celebrated in 1995. I'm thankful for my siblings but there are others who are are not blood related yet just as close and best of all is the HUGE family of God those Christian brothers and sisters are going to have so much to talk about in the age to come. Now for the news of the day. This Sunday was really special. Peoria church held communion in place of afternoon service. This was one of the most touching communions in all of my 50 years of taking it. So very thankful the pandemic is over and we could be together. It was hard to leave with so much visiting happening afterwards. I made it home by 2:15 and had 15 minutes to get changed and bring Evan into the indoor to clean the mud off his legs. KayJay arrived with Skye and wow has she grown. She is just HUGE.

Skye's dam is Sheena and her sire is Valiant and Sheena is expecting another full sibling to her in June. She was teased and showed so Evan was brought over and covered her with very little drama. Once Skye was put in the paddock KayJay offered to help me with Irish. I know she is in her foal heat but Irish didn't stand well and kicked at Valiant but he got the job done anyway. I don't think she is going out yet but checking the notes from the past two years Irish doesn't go into the foal heat until the foal is 10 or 11 days instead of the usual 7 so all might be well. I'll try again with both Irish and Skye tomorrow as both stallions have not been used yet this spring. We had a smaller group for dinner tonight with David and Ben's families not able to make it. Tonight on the menu was grilled chicken parmesan with grilled peppers and onions, a big salad and dinner rolls. Anna made some dip with tortilla chips and we finished up with cheese Danish and icecream. The weather was nice, sunny, 65 but very windy. That made the volleyball challenging but they still had fun playing.
I took lots of pictures but it is late and I'm tired so below is the video.

One really cool thing happened. Warwick Schiller is one of the clinicians at Equine Affair and chose Thor(Gideon) who is a 4 year old out of our Andalusian mare Soul by Evan one of our Friesian stallions for his clinic. A video will be shared later.
