Mika's Home

We saw the truck pull out this morning a couple minutes after 6:00 am. Karin borrowed it to finish moving everything out of the library. Mark wanted to wash the seat covers on his car so those were removed this morning before the walk and sprayed down with some spray and wash before putting in the washer. They didn't come out very clean so were washed again and then the 3rd time just rinsed and spun out before hanging them outside to dry. The wind today made the house feel cold but when the sun came out, if sitting out of the wind it was nice.  Not that I sat around. Today I needed to go through all the show tubs to find the capes. Rebekah needs them for the Co-Op play. While digging through those tubs which are in the stall barn I started the laundry in the apartment. Those capes were found in the bottom tub and had been put away a little dirty. They were hauled into the kitchen.  I only found 7 but Rebekah said that would work.

They were shook out and washed, 2 to a load. Rebekah is leaving for Gulf Shores on Saturday so once the capes were washed and dried they were taken upstairs and hung up.
Rebekah can pick them up when she gets home. When Mark got home I showed him where they were as Diane and I are staying down for 2 weeks.  The seat covers were dry so we worked on putting those back on the car.
We had chili for supper tonight. It was chilly enough out side that the hot chili and mixed salad hit the spot.  After supper Mark went back outside to work. Phil and Anna were here working on the barn.  I think Tom is coming soon with the sheet rock installers to figure out what I need to order. We still need to get the insulators here before they can sheet rock.  Mike took the two horse trailer to pick up Mika.

When he gave Mika away he told the new owner "if for any reason you can't keep him I will take him back." Well with winter coming and the price of hay and grain sky rocketing today they made the decisions they needed to down size. I have to confess, when I was out searching for Taylor yesterday at Middle Grove my first instinct was to look for Mika. He has been a fixture here for over 23 years. He was born here. The herd was very glad to see him and he was thrilled to be back. Our horses are all cherished gifts from God, we are to do the best we can for them and having him home was the right decision.
