The cold front came through early this morning. Gulf Shores broke records for the cold temperature today. Diane and I were both up before sunrise but it was too cold to stand out on the beach to take pictures so the pictures below are from her balcony.
Spark and Greg went out fishing but didn't catch much at all. Fred the local big blue heron was standing about 3 feet from them hoping for a fish but got tired of them not catching anything walked near the water line, looked down and quickly stabbed and brought up a nice size flounder and then wouldn't share it. HE had a tough time swallowing it but finally got it down. Spark said the cold wind was causing the sand to slam into them and that stung. It was pleasant up on mom's balcony. Below are mom and Aunt Jinnie having a morning cup of coffee while enjoying the view.
They ended up sitting out on the balcony in the morning sunshine.
Dan, Beth, Ruth, Diane and I all went out on the balcony with them for about an hour then decided to walk down to the pool area but it was still too windy and cold so went up to the 3rd floor where the exercise room is. Aunt Jinnie was using the stationary bike when mom asked if she could try it too. We got her on. Dan helped to keep her from sliding off and Ruth helped with the left food but just a little.
She was pleased when she was able to work it but thought it should be turned on and do the pedaling for her.
Below is one of the videos we took.
At noon we went back upstairs to get ready for lunch. Diane and I went to her condo to have leftover sandwiches still from church lunch. We heated them up in the air fryer and then added sliced tomato. It really was delicious. We decided to sit in the sun at the pool as that was out of the wind but wanted a snack there so Diane pulled out her popper and made some microwave popcorn in it. This was such a cool tool. It folds down flat for storage but just pops open, add just a small amount of popping corn put the cover on loosely and pop about 2 minutes.
As long as the sun was out it was very pleasant. Spark, Rhonda, Beth and Janet joined us. We stayed until the sun was too low to keep the air warm. Diane took the wet suits out of her attic to see if Joan and her kids would want to try them in the water now that it was cold. They tried them on and those suits just didn't seem to fit quite right.
They were wearing them backward!
We went in to change then drove to the Beach House for supper. Tonight was taco Tuesday, they had 4 kinds of taco's for $2.50 each. Diane and I also split a cob salad. After supper we went to Island Royale to sit in the hot tub. The outdoor hot tub wasn't quite warm enough for us so we had the share the indoor hot tub with 2 other people and they had been drinking so much we were afraid the lady would pass out. Her husband had quite a time trying to get her out of the hot tub and to the elevators. Joan, Faith and Berlica arrived then to join us in the hot tub. They had been outside at the beach and were really cold but told us the dolphins put on a real show. There was a young one that came spiraling out of the water, high into the air before diving back into the water and did it 3 times right in front of them. About that time a police man came in and told us a 911 call had come in from this building and were we aware of anyone in distress. Sure hope it wasn't that intoxicated lady. We decided to go back to the 3rd floor to sit in the sauna to dry off before getting in the car to drive back to Gulfside Townhomes. Ruth, Dan and Steven left around 7:00 pm for home so I have now moved over to mom's condo to help Joan.
