It was refreshingly cool when we awoke. The oppressive heat lifted at least for today. We only had a high of 84 degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to only be 89 and then back to the 90s for the next 10 days. We went out early to work. My first job was to clean Rosaleigh's stall then sweep the barn. I also checked the apartment and killed one fly that must have gotten in early. Then Mark and I went to work on the fenceline and finished drilling all the holes. Mark needed my help on lining them up and on the near fenceline holding back the existing wire.

Only 84
As soon as the last hole was dug we took the auger off the skid steer and put on the bale spear then moved in 3 bales. Both stallion paddocks got a bale as did the mare paddock. That sounds so easy but it is complicated. First Madiera was teased, she was a no today but then she and her filly put in the paddock next to Valiant's. She really needs to be close to a stallion so I can tell when she starts to be interested in him. Next Evan was moved into the far paddock where Madiera and her filly were. His bale feeder moved out of the way. The first bale was moved in for Rosaleigh and Jury. Both mares were good about staying away from the gate while Mark drove the skid steer in. While he went to get another bale Evan's shelter gate was opened and made ready. As soon as Mark pulled up with it the net wrap was removed then the bale dropped in place. The bale feeder was moved back around it and the gate shut. The last was Valiant's. His bale wasn't quite finished but since we were moving bales anyway I wanted to give him a new one. His bale feeder is a hog panel and it was looking pretty bent up and bad. Mark dragged another from the barn while I dragged the old one out. This is our last hog panel so we will need to pick up another 5 or 6. They last a couple years and really save on hay. When all the bales were moved Evan was put back in his own paddock. We finished around noon. Sarah was supposed to be bringing Ben and Taunya's kids out for swimming at noon but she let me know they were running a little late which gave me time to run over to mom's to help Ruth take the lift recliner back into the house. Today Ruth and Steven loaded it into the wheel chair van, put mom into the recliner and drove her into the Bartonville just to make sure it would work for mom's trip to Gulf Shores in October. We need to make sure mom will be comfortable for that long drive down. The transfer from the wheel chair to the recliner was very doable. Ruth sent back the two pictures below.
Mom was a little chilly so she and Ruth sat out on the deck watching the kids swimming.I walked up to join them. Jack, Jace, Addyson, Abe and Zion swam across the lake to jump off Rachel's high dive. Abe jumped first. The only other jumper was Addyson. The others used Rachel's diving board on her dock to jump back into the water. The video below is a little long of the kids but Addyson's jump is at the very end of the video.
Sarah and Nolan left around 2:30 pm so I loaded up Ben and Taunya's 4 in the Prius and headed to Goodfield stopping first at McDonald's for hot fudge sundaes.
When we arrived at their house Addyson went right to work changing out the puppy pads, cleaning up any mess and feeding Rosie. Abe wanted to help so picked up a puppy so I could get a picture of him.Addyson took all 4 puppies outside to go to the bathroom. These 7 week old Cavapoo puppies already have a great start on potty training. They are all spoken for and will be leaving for their new homes in a week.
When Ben and Taunya arrived I left stopping in Morton at their new Aldi before heading home. I wanted to get the rest of the food for the Father's Day meal and was so pleased there was an Aldi on the way home. When I arrived home Fast Faith was here mowing.
I may have speeded that up a little. She is a very good careful mower and got so much done today. Even behind the barns. The orphan colt was fed a gallon at 6:00 am, 3 quarts at noon and 2 full gallons at 8:00 pm. He is doing well.
