Fixing the 5th

At 6:00 am I happened to look out our window and saw a young buck grazing on the leaves exactly where Tumnus used to graze.  I thought this buck was too young to be him but then realized those antlers are not yet full grown for this year and it very well could have been Tumnus.  The video below was taken through the window so not as clear if I would have been outside.

I had to be at mom's at 8:00 am and it is always hard to wait until that time. Mom was up and ready for breakfast by that time.  After breakfast mom and I sat outside on the deck watching the birds and listening to their singing.

Soon we saw Joan and Berlica climbing into the canoe.  Joan wanted to spray the lake to kill the seaweed while Berlica needed to fish for a bass to feed the owl.
At 1:00 pm Ruth relieved me. I headed right out to the barn to get new pictures of Rosaleigh's filly.

If you would like to see the rest of the pictures taken of her today click HERE.
She is FANTASTIC and hopefully will be part of our broodmare herd in 3 years.  She will be tall and have the mega hair. About that time Jennifer and Kate arrived to work with Zena so they were put back in the paddock.
Today I wanted to try Rocky and Soul's orphan in the pond pasture with the mares. If they will get along The colt won't be so lonely when Rocky leaves for his new home.  It went ok but Irish chased Rocky away from her colt a couple times.  Below they are all in the middle paddock but soon migrated into the pond pasture.
Phil and Anna arrived right then to start working on the 5th wheel. Below they are measuring.
The first part was cut and below they are putting on the first part.

The second part was more cutting but it went well too. Anna is removing the protective plastic while Phil puts it in place.
The metal was screwed in.
The last job was to use the RV tape on top of the rivets. I didn't get a picture of it finished. It started raining, the truck had a flat tire, the spare was awful to get off from under the truck. By the time the tire was changed they were both hot, tired and needed a shower. We offered to keep the girls and take them out to dinner so Phil and Anna could have the evening free.  We went to Avanti's and were well taken care of there.
When we got home Taegan came out to help bring Rocky and the orphan back into their paddock. They were all the way across the pond enjoying grazing with the herd. Soul's colt was grazing with Irish's colt just like old times. The mares were keeping Rocky away. I'll need to figure out if Rocky can go in with Jury and the colt can be with the other foals but still come for his milk when I call.
The colt followed me all the way into the middle paddock anxious for his milk. Phil and Anna picked up the girls around 8:45 pm. What a productive day! I'm thrilled to have the 5th wheel water proof and am so ready to make a campsite for it behind the barn.
