Rosalie's NEW Filly by Evan

Isaiah called as we were driving home yesterday that Rosalie had given birth to an all black foal out in the paddock. He had checked her before heading to bed but there was no waxing so kept her out. In the morning there were 4 extra legs attached to a NURSING foal. I had to call him back to find out colt or filly and was glad for the update that all was well. The placenta had already been delivered in the shelter so more than likely the filly was born up in the soft hay. They were left in the indoor arena all night. This morning one of the first things to do after downing a cup of coffee was to run up to the barn and sure enough there was a very healthy filly standing next to her mom.

Isaiah arrived shortly after so we took them out to the field to get more pictures. Below he is leading Rosalie out to the pasture.
She came back to me as if to ask, "are you coming too?"
After that long walk and a nice snack at the milk bar she laid down to take a nap in the sunshine.
It wasn't long before she jumped back up for another snack.
mmm that milk is good, she has a milk mustache and is licking it off in the picture below.
About that time she decided to try out those long legs and took off which made Rosalie worried, Rosalie came trotting up to find her wayward daughter.
Rosalie soon learned that she would circle back to her so dropped her head to keep grazing.

She had a ball running around.
We are SO pleased and thankful, an easy birth and a healthy foal! Good job Rosalie.
Now I am even more disappointed that they sold the stallion in Mobile, AL, I may as well post her for sale. IF you would like to see the rest of the pictures from this morning click HERE.
