Birthing Video

 I overslept this morning and didn't get outside to move the rest of the bales off Mike's trailer until 6:30 am. The mares were let out of the stalls at that time but the stalls were not cleaned. Lola and her colt were put in the big field while Jury was put in the short shelter paddock. I had to quit the walk early to bring Lola and her colt in from the field. They were put in the breeding shed shelter for the day. After cleaning up mom was picked up to head to the Berean office. On the way we were early enough that we had time to stop at Sam's Club to pick up Danishes and cinnamon rolls for our coffee break. IF you would like to read about our morning there click HERE. We stopped at the Bartonville post office on the way home to drop off the Bibles. As soon as I got home the stalls were cleaned then Jewel's filly brought inside to get a few pictures for someone that wanted to see her legs. There was no one to hold her so she was just tied in the stall. 

The next job was to take the gooseneck flatbed trailer back to the shop. That was the hardest part about the entire day. There are so many trucks and trailers in that lot it was hard to maneuver the trailer into its spot which was part way under a semi trailer. I was home by 2:30 and about that time Berlica came over. I was just taking Lola out to get a few pictures of her one day old colt for the website so Berlica helped.

He enjoys scratches on his rear end.

He loves using those long long legs. 

He is a typical Lola/Valiant colt, huge, curious and friendly. Karin had a big group out today for trail riding. I didn't stick around for pictures I still needed to hook up the 2 horse trailer, clean that out and make the video of the birth of the colt.

When Mark got home he put the crew back to work. This afternoon they laid the fabric down for the gravel on 2 sides of the building site.

The small rock was added to keep the fabric in place, we can now order the big rock to go on top which will help the builder from sinking their big machinery into the mud. We need to order tons and tons  of gravel. After dinner Mark helped move a bale into the far paddock for Sangria and the two yearlings. After that Jury was brought inside and put on the monitor. She had bagged up big but no waxing. Lola and her colt are in the other foaling stall just to keep her company in the barn.
