Long Drive Home

I was up at 3:00 am Friday morning to post the pictures on the blog from Thursday's fun. The weather had turned cold so even those not suppose to leave on Friday ended up leaving on Friday. Mark and I got the kayaks out of the water and carried them up leaving them under the building for easy pick up by the company. While we were doing that the kids packed the suitcases into the trailer. The bikes had been packed in there on Thursday night. Breakfast was cooked and eaten and we were on our way around 7:30 am for home.  I was really surprised when GPS took us up 59 toward Interstate 65 as we planned on heading up 55 but thought there must be a reason so got on 65. What a mistake. All was going well until we got near Birmingham then came to a complete stop which delayed us around 30 minutes. Finally got going again and right after Birmingham another complete stop and another 30 minutes of delay. The traffic was crazy, bumper to bumper crawling for miles. The next problem came before Nashville and this time the traffic was so bad the GPS took us off the interstate and into a town to go around an accident. The only problem with this was everyone else was also trying to do the same thing and we ended up in another traffic jam in that town with sitting through multiple stop lights. We were directed back to 65 which had become a parking lot. We made it through Nashville and thought we were finally in the clear when we hit 24 west but nope that was also bumper to bumper with many slowdowns and some complete stops. The trip that was suppose to take 14 hours and get us home by 9:30 pm took an extra 3 hours and 15 minutes. We pulled in at 12:45 am. I grabbed my purse, ran into the house, greeted lonely Emma then fell into bed. This morning when I awoke I could not figure out where we were. Memory came rushing back... we are HOME! I have an announcement to make but first need to go check out that everything is well. We have a new foal in the barn. Isaiah called while we were driving home.
