We awoke to rain, a cold 50 degree rain that just kept coming and coming. Rosalie, her filly and Lola were brought into the indoor arena where they promptly enjoyed a good roll in the soft sand. In the two pictures below both mares are searching for the perfect spot.
Rosalie was the first to drop.
Lola had to search a little longer to find her perfect spot.
By the time they finished they were both covered with sand.
I cleaned up the barn then left for Goodfield to take Addyson to her gymnastic/dance practice. Ben had to take Jack to Soccer and took the other two boys with him. Tauyna is in Texas for her schooling. After the practice we stopped at Busy Corner for lunch. That place was packed, it was very good but may have been extra crowded because of the rain coming down. Addyson was dropped off then I headed home. The mares needed to be taken out of the arena and put into stalls so the arena could be used. They were given a good groom to get the sand off, fresh water, hay and each got about half a scoop of grain. This way they love coming into the barn. At 4:00 pm I picked up mom then drove to Morton, IL to pick up Nancy. We ate dinner at the Pizza Ranch. That place was also packed. Our area is almost back to normal. No one seems to be concerned about the virus and we aren't either. Most of us have had it and thank goodness ALL of us have had a mild case. I'm very thankful for that! Even Nancy had it and 15 out of the 16 in her house. All of them also had mild cases. Nancy really enjoyed dinner. After mom and Nancy were dropped off I ran up to the barn to move the mares back in the indoor arena. It stopped raining and the sun came out for a few minutes while we were driving home but the rain is supposed to start back up again tonight and rain until after noon on Sunday. The mares were moved and the stalls cleaned. The airbnb guests arrived and needed to grill so the electric grill was turned on for them. The girls staying at Joan's came over to pet the horses. These girls LOVE Oksana.
Oksana loves all people and is thrilled when they bring treats. While I was gone today Mark was busy in the house. He kept the laundry going and mopped the kitchen and rec room floors. Another blessing to be thankful for. With all this rain we can't seem to keep the mud out. Emma brings it in through her dog door and people bring it in through the kitchen door. This rain is really soaking in and the fields are now a beautiful emerald green, my favorite color!
