Horse Camping

It sounds so easy, throw some horses in the trailer and take off but when planning on taking this family trail riding we have to decide which horses would work for little kids, how to sleep 3 or more families, meals for 20 and of course lots of s'mores at the end with a good camp fire. We had everything loaded by 2:00 pm. Rhoda drove the big horse trailer with 5 horses. She, Lee and Iris will be sleeping in that. I drove the van and the Wolf Pup camper. Ben, Taunya, Addyson, Jack, Jace and Abe will be sleeping in that and Anna drove the motor home. Phil, Anna, Braelyn, Taegan and Kensley will be sleeping in that. David, Stephanie, Israel and Elisabet joined us for supper and the evening trail ride.  We pulled in the campground at 2:30 pm only to find almost all of the campsites taken. We were able to park at the day trail riding area.

The picket lines were set while the kids pulled the haybags where they needed to go.  When Philip arrived he stretched the line tight so the haybags could be hung. Below are a few pictures of the afternoon.
Rhoda took out the first group which included Addyson, Braelyn, Taegan, Kensley and Anna.
Below they are posing for a picture after a fun ride of 5 miles.
The horses were put on the picket line with their bags while we continued to set up camp.
While the fire was started the kids were playing games on the hillside.

The adults were visiting around the fire.
Lee and Iris arrived just in time for cooking hotdogs over the fire.
Iris got to sit on Cookie before the next trail ride.

David and Stephanie arrived with Elisabet and Israel.
Rhoda took Israel on the last trail ride of the day and this one was ridden with headlights attached to their foreheads as by now it was pretty dark. The campfire was burning bright when Mark and I headed home.
If you would like to see the rest of the pictures from today click HERE. Breakfast will be cooked here and taken out at 7:00 am so I'd better get to bed pretty early as I need to be cooking before 6:00 am.
