First Monday Back

It wasn't easy walking up to 34 degrees and frost on the ground after spending the last 8 days in sunny warm Gulf Shores. Mark helped by feeding the horses this morning. Diane, Ruth and I walked then after the walk I drove in to Meisters to pay the first of the month bills 5 days late. This afternoon Anna let the girls come over to play. I hadn't seen them for over a week. They helped me make two big  pots full of creamy chicken and wild rice soup and then as a reward eat a bowl of it. Taegan who told me she doesn't like vegetables loved the soup. She told her mom later, "you can't even taste all the vegetables the rest is so good."  While the soup was cooling down they played Queen of the yard. Braelyn was the queen and her loyal subjects were Taegan and Kensley.

Braelyn made and decorated the dress all by herself. She taped sparkly material in the shape of diamonds on the front of the dress.
Kensley found a big snake skin in the yard. All 3 girls had to study the skin that felt like wax paper but peeled off a nice big black snake.
Rachel made it down to Gulf Shores and took the picture below of mom, Barbara and Aunt Jinnie enjoying the waves at the beach. Mom is 88, Aunt Jinnie is 91 and Barbara her daughter is a young 70 hears old. They forgot to take the boogie boards.
Our poor airbnb renters, I forgot to turn the heat on in the apartment as it was sunny and warm where I was and the apartment dropped down to 62 degrees. They got all the extra blankets out of the closets to stay warm and finally by Sunday started the wood burner.  The thermostat is on the wall but perhaps they didn't know how to run it. They still left a great review:  “A fantastic private location. We had a few quiet evenings. It was great to look out the kitchen window and see the horses.”“Thank you for providing a spectacular place. My wife, daughter, and dogs loved a little country living. We really appreciated going out and giving the trio of horses some nice scratches. We'll be keeping this place at the top of our list for travel.”
