Sheena and Jury Pregnant

I made a short video of mom at Norris this morning and posted it on Facebook.

Diane was getting rid of her mini fridge from the cabin as she bought a new one so this morning before the walk I loaded that onto the golf cart and took it over to Joan's to replace the mini fridge in the Salem camper that stopped working last weekend.  It fit perfectly. The other fridge was taken home and plugged it. It started but never cooled. Joan wants to check it out so that was taken back to her house this afternoon.  As we were coming up the drive I noticed DLM dropped another load of gravel off at the barn.

That should be the last load for a while. We did not get that spread today.  At 8:30 the horse trailer was hooked up to the truck and Jury was loaded. Titus was not happy by himself. I tied him to the horse trailer and was going to let Mike know he was going to have to stay at the cabin when Titus walked into the trailer. Right then Mike showed up with his 4 wheeler and Sheena. We unloaded Titus, loaded Sheena then took Titus over to the cabin field to be with the riding horses. He was glad to see them. I left for Morton, IL to take the 2 mares to Hoerr Vet Clinic for their ultrasounds.  While waiting in the parking lot their lamb came out to clean up some weeds.
Around 10:15 am LeeAnn took Sheena while I led Jury into the clinic. Jury was put in the stocks first. Sheena was tied up next to her.
It didn't take Dr. Hoerr long to find the embryonic vesical.

She was just covered once by Valiant so we are very pleased. Jury is due July 16th, 2024
She was slipped out of the stocks and Sheena led into them.  When Dr. Hoerr started putting his arm in her backside she reached over and tried to bite Jury. I yelled at her and she quit, LeeAnn didn't know why Jury was moving toward her. We laughed at Sheena's reaction, she didn't like what Dr. Hoerr was doing and tried to take it out on Jury.
Sheena too was pronounced pregnant.  She was bred to Evan and is due July 25th, 2024. Both mares were loaded and I started the long drive to Middle Grove, a good 50 miles from Morton. It started sprinkling just as we pulled in but stopped long enough for the horses to be unloaded.
They stopped to graze a bit then took off to find the herd but took their time climbing the hill.
As soon as I got home the oven was turned on to preheat and I started baking cookies. First were the chocolate chip cookies, next were the peanut butter cookies and last was a double batch of brownies. These were needed for the dinner tonight at the fellowship hall. Gary and Marie were serving pizza, Dee and Bob brought the fruit and vegetables. Marie made 2 pans of peach cobbler and 2 pans of raspberry cobbler. We arrived at the fellowship hall around 5:20 pm to get the picnic tables washed and the food ready.  Check out the beautiful colors on the vegetable tray.
Marie brought plenty of perfectly ripened tomatoes from her garden and drizzled a delicious sauce over them.
Dee brought a huge amount of red and white grapes.
I had the cookies and brownies in the tray Barb gave me from when she served lunch at church.
We ate out on the picnic tables but came inside for Ron Streitmatter's talk on Planting In Good Soil.
Below are a few pictures. Below is one of his fields, he pointed out the differences of the corn. The corn planted in the hard soil was not flourishing where the corn planted in the soft fertile ground was thriving.
He talked about the computer he was taught on.  You will need to watch on AC Central to understand why.

When it came time for harvest the corn plants turn brown while us old folks get gray hair, and then comes the end. BUT if we have lived a fruitful life we reap the reward, just as the kernel of corn planted in the ground dies but brings forth 30, 60 or even 100 fold.
To watch it on AC Central click HERE. The talk was good. Mark fixed my Prius this morning by using the last of our zip ties to tie up the undercarriage. That was torn off when I hit a big opossum coming home from church a couple days ago. Well on the way home tonight a big fat raccoon came scurrying across Taylor road right in front of the car and it was so quick I couldn't miss hitting him. Sure hope the bottom isn't dropping off again. Mark has not yet ordered more zip ties.
