It was really cold for our work day today. 30 degrees and spitting snow this morning when the volunteers started showing up. Nolan dropped Zion off first so she worked on some crafts until Elisabet arrived then they both worked on crafts together.
The labor for the kids didn't start until Braelyn, Taegan and Kensley arrived. Grandpa took all that wanted to go to the wood pile for splitting logs and loading them on to the trailer.
Meanwhile the adults were hard at work in the barn building a railing, wall and installing lights.
Elisabet didn't go as she didn't have a coat so she helped make a fire in the wood burner and then helped bake muffins for the workers.
Mark brought the kids back after about 40 minutes to warm up with some hot chocolate before heading back out for another job. This time he needed help filling in dirt around the water service and filling in where driveway from when the water service was run. The grandkids were happy to help with that job.
The grandkids had lunch about noon but the barn workers came in about 45 minutes later before heading back out. Aunt Jinnie came over to check out the barn.
After lunch we went right back to work. The adults in the barn and the grandchildren back out to the woodpile. The entire time we were working we had light snow coming down. It really does feel like winter has arrived. Everyone was more than ready to quit by late afternoon. It was my turn to bring supper over to mom's tonight and since they had lasagna yesterday I didn't want to take any of the left overs from lunch as that what was served here for the barn workers today. Instead I made a spinach/cheese/rice/steak/egg dish to take over. That was served with biscuits right out of the oven and egg rolls. We had almost finished supper when Diane arrive also bringing supper. She forgot it wasn't her turn but since she was there and willing to stay I left going straight to the barn to take care of the colt then finally in for the night. If you would like to see the rest of the pictures taken today click HERE. I also make a video of some of the work done today.
