Day Before

Day before Thanksgiving so I was up early to start the the stuffing for the turkey. That was made before making breakfast.  The first job was to take the giblets out of the turkeys and get those cooking only when the turkeys were taken  out of the fridge the cavities were still full of ice so getting out those giblets wasn't easy. By the time I finished there was plenty of stuffing both for stuffing the 2 turkeys and enough extra for 50 or so people.

The turkey was put in our oven at 10:50 am and the second turkey was put in the barn oven just a couple minutes later. Both were set a 275 degrees as I wasn't sure how long the Gertrude's funeral would last. Joan drove Mark, mom and I to the funeral in the wheelchair van. Gertrude's funeral was really amazing, what a special Godly woman.  After the funeral I took the golf cart over to the barn to start setting up tables. Mark came over to help.
I filled the candy nut cups then Braelyn helped put them on the tables.
Ben and Taunya's family arrived so the volley ball net was taken down for a fun basketball game.
The turkeys were taken out of the oven around 1:00 pm and were done perfectly. At 3:00 pm I went out to tease and cover Sheena. She was teased first and was still in. Evan was called, he came running to the gate but Lea didn't want him to leave and tried to smash through the gate after him. He was rearing up and had done this 3 times pretty anxious when I heard some little kids saying rather loudly, "mommy WHAT are those horses doing?" Ugh forgot that a family of 6 was staying in the apartment. As soon as Evan was finished he was put in Raven's old paddock until I could get Lea out of his pasture and into the middle paddock with Blueberry. Then Sheena was put in Evan's pasture and Evan finally put back where he belong. Both horses ran down to the bottom of the field.
After coming back to the house I sent an apology through airbnb to our guests. It was fine, the dad replied, "we are going to be homesteading, they have to learn about this anyway." Stallions look violent when working but both Evan and Valiant are well behaved. It just doesn't LOOK like they are well behaved.
Kim arrived to spend the night then enjoy Thanksgiving with us. We sliced just a little turkey added a spoonful of stuffing and a little bit of cranberry and declared it good! We had a good visit but now it is past time for bed. Another Good day.
