Let Down Monday

Today was kind of a let down after the fun of the weekend. It really was hard to get moving. Mom couldn't walk today, the cut on her leg was swollen and infected. Ruth looked at it and pretty much demanded mom go to the doctor today. Joan sent a picture in and they went this afternoon. She has been put on a strong antibiotic but that wasn't the bad news. That was her heart is back in a-fib. We knew she had been struggling on the walk.  I drove to the Peoria post office to pick up the Berean mail then headed home to tease mares. Lola still isn't showing but Jury is now in. Since this is the first day she showed she was not covered but will be done so tomorrow. Evan was let out in the field for an hour to run, buck and graze. I should have had the camera with me, he really had fun. I had to stay out with him the entire time as we have taken down fence in the stallion pasture for the new barn. It was starting to rain when I put him away. Berlica, Rosa and Rochelle were over with their bikes helping watch him.  When Mark got home he needed help with lifting the bush hog mower to sharpen the blades. I used the skid steer to hold it up while he got both sharpened.

As soon as he finished he started mowing the perimeter of the fields and got them both done before dinner was done. Jamie Stone sent Ralph over with a mothers day present for mom. Jamie is still in the hospital. We are sure hoping things turn around for her soon. She had purchased home baked cookies that were beautifully decorated. Mom is going to bring those to Berean tomorrow. I should have taken a picture of them and will need to do that tomorrow BEFORE anyone takes a bite. A wonderful review came in from the family that stayed with us. She writes: “Judy’s place is AMAZING!!! Super clean, spacious, comfortable!! She goes above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome and are comfortable during their stay. She is fantastic with communication and always got back to me quickly. On our way we weren’t sure if we’d make it before stores closed for the night, Judy generously supplied us with milk and eggs so we wouldn’t have to do a late night stop. ❤️ She took time out of her morning to walk us around and tell our kids about all the different horses. We got to see 6 babies!!!! It was such a peaceful setting!! Absolutely loved it!! P.S. The welcome cookies her family provides are delicious!”
