We had a frost warning last night for this morning so the tomato plants were covered with a sheet. Sure enough the fields had frost on them.
Hard to believe it is almost the middle of May and we are still getting frost in the mornings. Hopefully this will be the last although I heard the low tonight is suppose to be 38. This cold weather IS helping with the fly population. At Middle Grove the horses are enjoying plenty of grass without the biting flies. Speaking of Middle Grove, Jewel needs to come in, she is due June 6th but is starting to bag up. Hadassah is due June 7th so I may bring her in at the same time. As all the paddocks are full I will need to haul a couple horses out. Jury WAS in her foal heat on Monday the 10th but it must have been near the end of the foal heat as on the 11th she would not get near the stallion. I missed her! Also Lola should have been in and also won't let the stallion anywhere near her so I must have missed her too. Only Soul got covered of the last 3 that delivered. They were both teased again today but both said no. On our walk this morning we saw the adult bald eagle fishing. That bird is so impressive. No pictures, we are all admiring the flight and didn't think to pick up the phones to record it. Mark picked up mom's Kubota this morning from Rohlfs, the company that had it for repair.
It now has a new battery, a new tire, new coupler, nipple, 0-ring, mounting kit and new bolts, all the hydraulic leaks repaired, new oil filters and oil, the wheel cylinders repaired and they resealed the bucket cylinders. We are glad it is back and working well. Hoerr vet clinic was called to schedule ultrasounds for Irish, Lily and Rosalie, I will also have Oksana done again just to make sure all is going well with her pregnancy. Dr. Hoerr is coming a week from tomorrow. Too bad we couldn't schedule it earlier as once they are pregnant they get to go back to Middle Grove. The pastures here are getting over grazed and I will have to keep them locked off for a while. When Mark got home from work today he went to work mowing the pond pasture.
It is important to keep it mowed to help keep the weeds down. Tonight Diane, mom, Mark and I went to church. Craig Stickling had the message on 2 Kings 5 the story of Naaman the leper. The sun was setting as we left for home. Diane took the picture below but not tonight, she took this a couple nights ago and I am just now posting it. We couldn't see the sunset from church.
