On the walk today we stopped and admired Sarah's flower bed at Joan's house.
Sarah left for the state of Washington so we couldn't tell her how much we admired her work. As we turned the corner to come up the barn drive we were met by Isaiah and Magda riding both of Mike's horses. These two horses are the only geldings we have and both are favorites around here. Ripper is the gray and Mika is the chestnut.Since they had these two out of the paddock and that paddock needed two new bales I went right to work moving those in. Ribbon's paddock also needed a new bale. My next job was to tease and cover Soul by Evan. She is probably near the end of her foal heat and was showing well this morning. Today was foal instruction day and since I already had Soul and her filly out they were taken into the stall barn and the filly haltered then tied. She was NOT happy about being tied and threw herself backward with her head hitting my lip. I now am sporting one of those very fashionable fat lips. She settled down and by the time I finished with her the halter had been removed and put back on at least 10 times with no fuss. She also got her legs handled and her hooves picked up. Since I was the only one here only a few tied pictures.
They were led out to the field and allowed to graze for about 10 minutes then put back in the paddock and Jury and her colt brought inside. He was much more laid back and easier to halter and didn't put up near the fuss of Soul's filly.
They were taken to the round pen so I could get a few moving shots for his owner. This colt at just 1 week of age has amazing movement. His owner is going to be thrilled.
He is a curious colt and had to check out the golf cart as I was sitting on it.
The last mare and foal pair worked with today was Rosalie and her filly.
I spent quite a bit of time with her as she is now over a month old. She too had her halter removed and put back on numerous times. Rosalie got impatient so was let out of the stall. She wandered in and out of the barn as I was working with the filly. The filly is learning to give to pressure and pick up her hooves with out fussing. When finished with the instructions they were also taken to the round pen for pictures for her owner. Check out her big trot.
She also has a LOT of mane and tail and is even growing feather on her legs.
It was almost 2:00 pm by the time I finished up and went in for lunch. I heated up a bowl of soup then went right back out to take cookies up to the apartment. We have a couple coming in around 5:00 pm. I got the Berean blog written from Tuesday, just one day late. If you would like to read that post click HERE. Mark got home with flowers and got most of them planted before we had to leave for family night at the fellowship hall. Leon and Eunice served everyone Avanti's spaghetti with meat sauce, Avanti's special bread, salad and cookies for dessert. A special thanks for that meal, after working outside all day most of us were hungry. David brought Israel and Elisabet and Israel had seconds on the spaghetti. The weather was just beautiful with bright sunshine yet cool so we all ate outside on the picnic tables then moved inside where Caleb Roecker gave a talk on Harvest Call. Chris Schmidgall sent an update on her husband Steve who was taken to the hospital with Covid and pneumonia in both lungs. This is what she sent: "I just spoke to Steven. His oxygen is 97. Delivery of 4 liters is now through tube in his nose, no longer the mask which is progress. His voice is stronger and he is thinking better. Last night he had a bag of IV Plasma. They started Remdesivir and he remains on Decaeron steroid IV. Thank you so much for your precious prayers. They are like an offering of fine gold to us."
Please continue to lift both up in prayer.
