Xena's Sunday Drive
Xena previously known as Glory is a Raven daughter out of a Percheron Morgan mare named Sally. Her owner sent this video.
Each trainer that works with these young Raven babies all say almost the same thing, "This is the easiest (or smartest) horse I've ever worked with." We have heard from trainers that have been in the business for 30 years and they are so impressed they email or call. This is a direct quote from a trainer working with a 2 year old stallion by Raven out of a Friesian cross mare: "You can put this on your website, I have owned horses for 30 years he is the calmest smartest colt I ever started."
Speaking of Raven he had his 15th birthday yesterday. That is usually not old for a horse but Raven is really showing his age. He was stepped on at 2 days old by his dam which damaged his right knee. Last winter his left knee was starting to show signs of arthritis as that is the knee he puts most of his weight on. He still comes galloping up when a trailer shows up or when a mare comes to the gate but after he does his job he walks very slowly back to his paddock. We don't know if he will survive another winter. When the vet was asked about how will we know when it is time, Dr. Hoerr answered, "he will tell you, he won't want to get up at all."
