Clair & Cor Arianna
Dr. Hoerr arrived as the vaulters were arriving. Karin hosed off Ribbon and stuck her in a stall for an ultrasound to check on her pregnancy. We got to see the heartbeat of the baby. Next was Cor Arianna, she is not pregnant and we will try again. She is an older mare and her uterine tone is not the best but she has some edema meaning the endometrial lining is still good, so if we can get her to settle she has a good chance of keeping the pregnancy. Dr. Hoerr suggested breeding her on Wednesday, and if she is out on Thursday he wants to infuse her. If she is still in on Thursday he will come on Friday. He also recommends regumate or a long acting progesterone shot. Her owner was emailed all the information, but we haven't heard from her yet so don't know what she will decide. Clair is still in her foal heat and covered today. Rhoda & Karin helped with the live cover just as Sarah pulled up. Karin got the power washer out and sprayed off the indoor arena's walls, organizing Mark's tools and general clean-up. The barn looks great. Today is Rebekah's personal shower, Sarah is in charge and she is holding it at the cabin. With high temperatures and high humidity the cabin was terribly hot. She hauled over the air conditioner we used in the stalls last year, put it in the window, plugged it in and it worked. The air conditioner was kept running in the barn today, it did the job, Eliza and her filly were kept cool and comfortable at 78 degrees. Skyline home needed the cotton candy machine & snow cone machine along with all the supplies brought in today for their picnic tomorrow. The snow cone machine was still at Pleasant Hill school so once all the other supplies were loaded that's where I headed. Once everything was assembled it was off to Skylines. Steven arrived and mowed the pond pasture, started on the pasture behind Raven's paddock when he ran out of gas. Mark was thrilled with his work, he commented the pond pasture is as nice as a golf course! After dinner Mark week whacked the fence row, around the hydrant and around the farm house but had to quit when the week whacker fell apart. Eliza and her filly were put out for the night, the stall cleaned, the barn air turned off and now its time for ice cream!
