Culture Shock

Joan was sharing with us some of her culture shock now that she is back in the states. The one we all started laughing on happened Tuesday night. She was driving home from Morton, IL on 474 when she sees the sign reduce speed bridge out ahead In Haiti when one sees a sign bridge out it means one will be driving through the river not over the river. How to get across, where to cross, will her van make it through the water are all thoughts flashing through her mind. She is shocked that the reduced speed is still a whopping 45 miles per hour when she comes upon a perfectly good bridge that is just reduced from 4 lanes to 2. The condition of the many roads and highways, the availability of food items not just the amount but the sheer variety, the huge homes (sometimes for just 1 person), and no starving begging children flocking around each time one steps out of the compound are all contributing to her culture shock. A couple of puppy updates came in, Emma's pups are now a year old. Amanda's puppy pictures are above and Bonnie's are below: The picture below was taken when he was quite a bit younger but so cute. Diane watched all 4 of her grandkids yesterday and now we understand why she is always asking to watch her grandchildren. Ella was brushing her hair, Willow was massaging her feet with lotion and Tate was refilling her lemonade. Before she left yesterday, Karin helped draw a bit of milk from Eliza for testing except we didn't test it, it was clear and obviously not ready. Eliza isn't due until July 7th. Mark and I are leaving for the weekend, Karin will be staying at the farm for us and we wanted to know if Eliza was anywhere near delivery.
