Camp Day

This is a short video taken today first at the new land at Middle Grove and then at the Herman's lake in the sky in Norris, IL. We had a beautiful day, bright sunshine and hot, hot enough that it felt wonderful taking the horses in the cool deep lakes at Middle Grove and Norris. We had lots of good help with the AC Jr High girls camp. Emily Ricketts brought 4 girls, 2 from Berne, KS and 2 from Forrest, IL. They drove to the Middle Grove farm and parked up on top. The horses all followed them down to the campground and stood in front of the hitching posts, no halters, leads, bridles, just loose standing there waiting to be tacked up and taken out. They know the routine and love it. A few pictures were taken of the beautiful horses out there. Below are some of the horses crossing the creek coming over to the campground to visit. . Ayanna pictured below is 2 years old and probably should be started soon. Below are Helen and Indy coming across the creek. Killian is hiding in the trees below watching for the riders to come back. He had to show us how bendable he is, he can almost make a circle. Below are the 8 riders. Horses used were Mika, Bunni, Sally, Paris, Ella, Ciera, Sangria and Larry. Once that ride was finished we loaded Ella, Larry and Paris into my 2 horse trailer and Mika, Bunni, Sally and Ciera into the 4 horse trailer all tacked up and headed to Norris, IL to the Herman lake. We were so proud of the horses, Ciera and Ella were perfect. Those were the only 2 that had never been to that lake. Only one time during the 4 hours did we have a small break other than that the line stayed full of riders until the girls were called to get on the bus to head back to the Old School Center for dinner. The horses were left at Middle Grove, next week we get to do it all over again for senior high girls camp.
