The day NEVER ends up how one would think. It started out fine, Jewel was teased and is still in so covered. The guests in the foaling apartment let me know early they were moving out and left a wonderful review. Jury and Lily's colt were put out in the out door arena to graze.
I left them out there for 2 hours and before they were brought back to the paddock de-wormed Lily's colt. that white stuff on his lips is NOT lipstick nor does he have rabies and is foaming at the mouth. Nope that is the de-wormer.
After they were put away I went out to the field to search for milkweed for one of my grandsons who is doing a paper on monarch butterflies. Below is the plant that was dug up and it has the pods not yet opened, exactly what was needed.
That was put in a bucket of water and will be delivered tomorrow. Since the guests had left the apartment the laundry was started and the beds made up. When I came out there was Jury and Lily's colt grooming each other.
I couldn't believe how long they groomed each other.
About that time my cell phone rang, it was a lady that had bought Tori's colt and Rosaleigh's colt in 2020. They were in a pasture with a bunch of mini donkeys and mini horses when one of the fences broke and the neighbor's mare got in with her horses last year. Well wouldn't you know that mare had a gorgeous all black filly.
They have no idea which colt bred the mare and after this had happened she had both of the colts gelded.
Mark got the round pen mowed. That looked fabulous.
Berlica mowed the stallion pasture. That too looked amazing when finished,
About 3:00 pm is when the stress arrived. Back in June, actually June 23rd I had a lady send a text asking to rent the barn for the evening of August 17th for a baby shower. After checking airbnb to make sure it was open I sent her a text telling her it was open and I have blocked it off for her, Nothing more was sent but either I didn't block it off correctly or the block was accidentally removed but the barn rented for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. When the people for the baby shower arrived they were shocked to find bedding and bags. I drove over on the golf cart to figure something out and ended up calling the people renting the barn to ask if they would allow the baby shower to happen in the gym and I would give him the $250.00 they were to pay me. He was fine with that, the gym was opened, the tables and chairs were set up and they hosted a nice big baby shower. The people from the barn had been in Peoria at some kind of tournament so I told them they could crash at the apartment until the shower was finished if they didn't want to share the building. Not a minute after sending that message the apartment booked and those people would be here in 45 minutes so of course I had to tell the barn people that isn't going to work. Diane was called and she offered her waterview walkout for them but in the end they came back from their dinner after the baby shower was over so that worked out ok. I sure did a lot of praying.
Mom had a lot of visitors today. Beth came and stayed with her from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Then Rachel arrived. Rachel put mom to work out on the deck.
Above she is dead heading, taking off all the dead flowers heads. After lunch she and Rachel enjoyed tea with Lucille Ball. Then Sarah Reinhard arrived. She stayed, cooked supper and then helped at bedtime. Sarah stayed until Faith and Berlica arrived and those 2 will spend the night with grandma and call if there is a problem. While at mom's all of a sudden we got a downpour of rain. I had taken the golf cart there and had a very wet ride back in the pitch dark. I'll be back there early. Alls well ends well.
