Baling Day

We woke up to 54 degrees this morning. Jury and Lily's colt were put out to graze first thing. I thought the lighting was neat in the pictures below.

Jury was left in the arena while the colt was just free in the field. He won't leave as long as Jury can't leave.
By walk time it was still almost cool enough to wear a sweat shirt on our walk but neither of us did. Ruth and I walked one round before going in to visit with mom and Joan. After going home and cooking breakfast then enjoying breakfast we both went to work on the new barn. Mark washing windows while I worked on floors. Together we had that finished before 10:00 am. Mark needed to fix one lock then helped me move in bales. The middle paddock needed two new bales.

While we were moving bales, Bryan, the farmer that does our custom baling arrived to check if the hay was dry enough to rake. It was so he went back to get his equipment. Berlica was here mowing the yards while Mackenson was mowing at mom's.

The farmer arrived to rake the fields. We have such nice thick windrows,
Below he is finishing up with our field.
He was just about finished with the second field when his grandson Logan arrived with the baler. We followed him over to Joan's field.
I drove over to watch.
Of course I had to check out the finished bale.
A nice tight fine stemmed bale and it smells wonderful. We won't have time to put them in the barn tonight as it is church night. When I got back to our field Berlica was ready to start mowing the outdoor arena.
At 4:30 pm I had a couple ladies (a bride and a mother-in-law) show up to check out the barn for a wedding. They liked it and also asked to see the foaling apartment and Diane's Waterview Walkout. They booked the barn but are checking with family about the 2 apartments. Mark and I picked up Berlica and Mackenson for church tonight. Tim Funk had the message tonight. To watch that click HERE. We went to Culvers for a late dinner and stayed quite late as the kids were having so much fun.
