Burning Wood

We had sustained winds of 40 mph with gusts of 50 mph according to Ruth and Fedi's wind calculator yesterday and last night. Today we had gusts of 42 mph and most of the day the thermometer was stuck in the 40's although late this afternoon I heard it reached 50 but with these winds it feels like it is in the 30s. We are back to winter. We are expecting snow on Monday of about an inch. Ayanna was teased and covered by Evan right after our walk.
Karin arrived later this morning for a trail ride and was joined by Shaeya, Ariya and Tess. Today Karin wanted to take Ayanna on the trails but also wanted Shaeya to work with Sally. Sally wants to run on the trails making her no longer beginner safe. It was Shaeya's job to ask for a canter then bring her back down to a calm walk. Shaeya led this trail ride and it went very well.

They flushed a big doe out as they were coming up the trails. I was able to get 3 pretty good shots of her as she bounded back into the woods.

If interested in seeing the rest of the trail ride pictures click HERE. Now for those that will criticize these trail rides, that shelter in place thing does NOT mean shelter INSIDE. We are all ONE family, They are NOT going in people's houses. They are training then leaving.  We have 85 acres of trails and can easily stay 6 feet apart. When the ride was over the girls came over to admire Lola's new filly. Below Shaeya is telling Lola what a beautiful baby she has.
We can't believe how thick and tall this baby is.
If interested in seeing the rest of the pictures of Lola's new filly click HERE. After everyone left I headed in to Peoria to deliver the last of the Bible studies for grading. Next week we will have more and I am glad to deliver them if anyone else wants to grade. My next job was to get updated pictures of Indy's colt by Evan for the website. He will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and is quite the character.

He is sale pending. A man named Joel from Iowa has asked how to send in the deposit. I won't mark him sold though until the payment actually comes.
It is dropping down below freezing tonight and was spitting ice pellets. Right now it FEELS below freezing with this wind. Mark has the wood burner going and we are comfortable working inside.
Lola and her new filly are on the monitor and I'm enjoying watching that filly run around her mama. Joan got a beautiful picture by text this morning from someone sheltering in place down in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This picture was taken last night of that big beautiful moon over the Gulf of Mexico.
