When Jenis was fed and watered last night she was so angry. She wants OUT of the stall, her hoof feels fine and there is NO REASON to stay IN the barn. It is so funny with Jenis EVERYONE knows exactly how she is feeling.
This morning gorilla tape will be taken out to the farm, her foot rewrapped first with the 4 x 4 squares, then vet wrap and finally gorilla tape to keep out the moisture and then she can be put out. It was nice to see she is not lame and has no pain. Dr. Pallen told us she could be put out if it wasn't muddy and EVERYTHING is frozen today and is going to stay frozen. It may reach 24 degrees today IF we are lucky. Why do we live in Illinois? If it wasn't for family and church we would be heading south, although work probably has something to do with our location also.
We opened up the divider between the 2 breeding shed paddocks. Izadora and Sandy with their foals are getting along fine and this way they can share the round bale. We talked to Dr. Pallen about using a shot to bring them both in and the go ahead was given. On Monday if it isn't too busy, I'll head to Morton, IL to pick up the shots. Rachel will probably have to help with Sandy's. She doesn't LIKE shots.
As the ground is frozen, no new shelters will be built this year but Steven came up with a plan for when the herd is back, he has them divided up to where they all have shelter access. We still need another horse round bale feeder for it to work. There is a used one advertised in the trading post but the owners want just about what a new one cost.
