Trip to the Goose Ranch

Ruth and Diane showed up for the walk dressed alike. Diane found her shirt at a thrift store and Ruth got hers from Beth.

We were laughing and visiting as we walked to Joan's house. When we turned around we were shocked, just then the wind picked up and we felt a few drops of rain.
Within seconds we turned and ran for Joan's garage as the heavens opened and a deluge fell. Rachel took the picture below as we were running for shelter.
The rain slammed the house and garage. Diane called Mike to come rescue us and all 3 of us were drenched just running from Joan's garage to Diane's car. I got out of the car and ran to the golf cart but that didn't keep much of the rain off as the wind was driving it horizontal. By the time I made it home my clothes were completely drenched and running with water. The video below was taken after the rain slowed down if you can believe that.
I was supposed to leave at 8:30 am to pick up the pallet load of chairs but waited a few extra minutes for the rain to slow and by 8:40 it was just sprinkling. Between 7:25 and 8:25 am we received 2 inches of rain. (the picture was taken this afternoon)
The pick up of the pallet went smooth. I walked in, showed them my paperwork and by the time I had the truck and trailer backed up to the back door of the building a fork lift operator was coming through the door with the chairs. They were loaded into the back of the horse trailer so I didn't need to worry about strapping them down. Below is after the chairs are loaded as I was getting ready to leave for home.
Anna and the girls were at the barn and helped pull the pallet out of the horse trailer.
At 11:15 am Diane, Aunt Jinnie, mom and I left for the Giant Goose Ranch. Joan took her van with Faith, Berlica, Braelyn, Taegan and Kensley. Mike and Dan also joined us at the Ranch. We went first to the Hub, which is the Ranch restaurant. Joan, Aunt Jinnie and I ordered the pulled pork and fries, mom ordered the smash burger and Faith ordered the boneless wings covered in a garlic sauce. All was delicious. For dessert Beth gave us all ice cream cones.

Diane and Mike left from there for Gulf Shores. They will drive half way today then finish the drive tomorrow. Joan and the girls went to the sweet corn field and picked 4 tubs of sweet corn for tomorrow's farmers market in Hanna City, IL. Beth gave mom, Aunt Jinnie, Dan and I a tour of the ranch while they were picking the corn. We stopped to see the 3 day old baby goats.

Our next stop was to see the horses. The 3 horses in the picture below are all Valiant's offspring.  Jenni and Jessie are full siblings out of their appaloosa mare and the buckskin is out of their palomino mare.
We saw the hatchery then drove to the corn field to pick up the corn pickers. Below is a short video of some of our time at the ranch.
Dan drove us to his duplex in Hanna City to show us the remodel. His new renter moves in next week but the duplex has all new floors, new paint and new kitchen cabinets. It really looks updated and nice.  I drove from there as Dan had his car parked at the duplex. I stayed with mom until Joan made it home.  We took 4 ears of corn for our supper tonight and that was delicious. Just picked today at the perfect ripeness, slathered in butter, sprinkled with salt and thoroughly enjoyed. I served that with steak strips sautéed with onions and peppers. For the very last time I used the special pan I bought about 10 years ago to use for our family meals.
After supper I didn't even wash it just threw it away.
I ordered a new one and today that new pan arrived.
I'm so spoiled.  Phil and Anna were working on the barn this afternoon and evening. Today Anna was putting up the tile in the girls bathroom. The new vanity in the girls bathroom is just like the vanity in the master bath.
The boy's bathroom vanity is different and half the size, just one sink instead of 2.
Gideon pictured on the left (barn name Thor) and his rider Hannah did amazing at the show bringing home 3 blues and a yellow and winning trophies.  Gideon's sire is Evan and his dam was our Andalusian mare Soul.
