Surprise Gift

Fedi's flight was cancelled last night from El Paso Texas to Peoria. Ruth was able to get him on one going to Chicago but that meant she had to leave early this morning to drive his luggage to Chicago. He was leaving for Romania from Chicago TODAY and somehow someway it all worked out.  As Karin is now in Florida Joan spent the night at mom's so I planned on relieving her at 7:00 am. Instead of walking we met at mom's at 7:15 for breakfast. LuEllen picked up Aunt Jinnie for quilting around 8:10 am. Joan went home to get organized and Diane went to work. Mom and I had a good morning together.  Rachel and David were having work done on their retaining well and soon heavy equipment arrived on the drive.

They took the equipment across the lake over to Rachel's so mom and I went out on the deck to watch.
We were nosy neighbors and spied on Rachel and David's work across the lake while sitting out on the deck. They had an excavator and a skid steer working there. It was really interesting.

While we were watching that we had a hummingbird visit the feeder.
We went in at noon, had lunch then just rested until Aunt Jinnie came home. After she ate lunch she read more out of her book to mom.
Mark picked up a couple meals from the Bartonville Diner for our dinner tonight.  Those 2 meals easily fed all 4 of us with enough left overs for tomorrow. One meal was 3 huge pieces walleye, baked potato, cooked carrots and a salad and the other was a very large ribeye steak, baked potato, cooked carrots and salad.  All was delicious. Diane arrived after dinner and took my place. I really needed to clean out the horse trailer as I am leaving in the morning to pick up a pallet load of chairs for the barn. It had been heavily bedded with straw because we were hauling a sick foal and his dam.
It took 4 wheelbarrow loads to get it all out.
I went down to the house and Mark had the filled propane tank for the 5th wheel out.
That was taken up to the 5th wheel, installed but when I turned it on propane was leaking out. It isn't the tank, it looks like I need to order a new propane hose on the 5th wheel. We stopped at the new barn to check the progress and noticed the closet had been filled with another pallet of chairs.  What a surprise and a special thanks to the family who donated those.  I have 2 other pallets already paid for that will be picked up at the Bloomington-Normal Sam's club Saturday morning. I had been telling Mark we need 170 chairs as we have 170 family members for the Meister Christmas and now with this gift we have EXACTLY 170 chairs.
