Mom slept in this morning and told us she had a good night. She really did enjoy the caroling and dinner after and would gladly do it again. Rachel helped her make the honey cookies Ruth mixed up on Saturday. Below she is enjoying the fruit of her labor.
I'm very thankful there are some of us willing to help with the baking mom insists on doing for Christmas. I'm not one of them. Ruth missed the walk this morning but Diane, Joan and I enjoyed the brisk weather and walked quickly. After the walk Rhonda's eggs were taken over to her house before heading to the Peoria post office to pick up the Berean mail. That was taken to the Berean office and when I arrived there was a car in the parking lot and another car pulling up. Shirley had arrived and was cleaning the office. Jerry, the volunteer who helps with the Tazewell jail arrived to get more studies. We are all SO very thankful for volunteers and thankful even more for the many jobs done behind the scenes. This afternoon it may be hunting season for something or perhaps a neighbor was sighting his guns but Valiant was aware of the shots and mildly curious.
The weather has been mild and the grass in the yard is still green so some of that was picked and he was given that special treat.
Mark brought in the mail and with it was a notice there was a package at the post office. Instead of waiting for tomorrow I drove into Hanna City post office and found there were 3 packages waiting. All 3 are Christmas gifts for someone in the family. At 3:40 pm Joan needed me to go with her to pick up Faith's new car in Pekin, IL. Faith is only 15 years old but will be getting her license soon and will need a car for ICC. She has been saving for a car and had just enough.
I drove it back to their house. Joan and the kids were going to go straight to Co-op for the choir practice. Tomorrow is the big concert. For supper tonight we started with a bowl of creamy chicken and wild rice soup, then followed that an egg roll with sweet and sour sauce, then finished with a chicken salad sandwich on toasted rye served with a dill pickle. There is enough soup and chicken salad for Mark to take to work for his lunch tomorrow.
