A Pile of Pups

It was 40 degrees outside this morning, what a nice change from the last two mornings. I was able to get all the morning chores done in a sweat shirt and a wind breaker. That is so much easier than trying to work in a heavy winter coat. Valiant will need a new bale tomorrow so the hog panel we wrap around his bale was moved out today.

He is always interested when we move that hog panel, He gets an extra serving of grain to keep him busy while I work in his shelter. He is doing very well with his weight now that we have him on good bales and it is no longer breeding season. In the spring and summer he spends more time worrying about the mares than eating and always loses weight. Evan is completely different, he is very content to stand and eat unless a mare is brought over to his paddock. A bit later I tried baking some individual pies for the dinner at mom's tonight. They tasted good but didn't turn out like I hoped. I needed to be there by 1:00 pm so didn't try a second batch.  Mark grilled steak for our meal which was served with sautéed buttered mushrooms, wild rice, green beans and mustard potato salad. Rachel brought over a puzzle this morning so mom and Aunt Jinnie worked on that most of the afternoon. After dinner I worked on it while they watched the 2nd season of The Chosen. Ruth posted a picture of her puppy pile. Any guess on how many pups can fit in a pile?
All 10 of them are piled up. They are really at a cute age. They love people, have a doggy door and always go outside to mess. These puppies have a great start on house training.
I was really thankful for such a nice day today and a quiet uneventful evening.
