Celebrating Christmas Early

The Meister Christmas had to be celebrated early as a lot of the family are leaving or will be leaving soon for Gulf Shores, AL. We can't blame them, the weather here is supposed to be awful with below zero temps.  Today wasn't terrible I think we reached 30 degrees but the wind made everything feel just plain cold. Mark helped load the car with the gifts and fruit to take to Joan's house. She was hosting the Meister Christmas this morning. When we arrived there were already quite a few cars parked ahead of us. Diane picked up Nancy and she was waiting excitedly for the party to start. Below are a few pictures of the party.

Nancy WON the ugly sweater contest.
As the barn isn't finished we had to use Joan's house and this Christmas party was more of an open house with family members coming and going but each stopping to thank great grandma for their Christmas gift from her. For some reason the grands and greats all got exactly what they wanted. It was almost like great grandma knew! Zion and Eden both got new really fancy shoes that light up.
The party was filled with the voices of excited children and cousins catching up on news.
Joan gave Spark a special gift from Santa then came the reading of the Christmas story and Christmas caroling.
Since all 11 of us siblings were there at the same time with mom someone suggested we needed a picture and for this picture they put us in our birth order.

By noon mom was ready to go home and get her feet up. Joan took her in the wheel chair van, I followed in the car then stayed with mom until Diane and Nancy arrived. This evening Joan is leaving for Gulf Shores and took Nancy home on her way.  The houses are now quiet, the wood burner is burning bright. It is 23 degrees outside and is supposed to start snowing. Mike is only bringing one mare home and should arrive soon. He sent the first picture of Blueberry before he loaded her and the second after.
It has been snowing off and on for his trip home. He sent a text back that she is huge, every bit of 17 hands.  She was advertised as 16.1 and we have found in the past that sellers usually exaggerate the height so I was not expecting her to be taller.  Mike made it here by 8:00 pm after 1400 miles of driving. She really IS big, she did well unloading in the dark. Mike walked her around the paddock, introduced her to Valiant who is in the paddock next to her and showed her where the water is. Glad thy made it safe!
