Update from Sue
Hi Judy,
Howard came over today to help start Piper's training. Here she is with a bridle on for the first time and saddle second time. Howard was teaching her to Park. His mare is so tall he has her park out so he can get up. Piper learned this pretty quick. I stood up with 1 foot in the stirrup, first time she jumped ( i got down quick) second time no issue at all. I so love this mare, she is so laid back and trusting.
All of this down in 40 minutes! Got to love those raven genes! Couldn't have asked for a better horse.
Sue
How we love updates, Thanks Sue truly it is wonderful to know when someone is happy with their Raven baby. The great thing about buying a Raven baby is someday...sooner than one realizes...it is time to train the baby. And everyone knows what is bred in doesn't have to be trained in. Take a few minutes to read the feedback page on the horsemeister website. Over and over we hear this has been the easiest colt..filly...mare...horse we have ever worked with. Even trainers are impressed when offered a Raven son or daughter to start under saddle. It isn't enough to own just a pretty horse. Who here among us is wealthy enough to just sit and watch a pretty pasture ornament? Most people want either a beautiful calm trail horse that loves people or a high performance gorgeous show horse and with a Raven baby they get both!
We had a wonderful group show up for mom's work day mother's day gift. Ben and Taunya stopped in Morton on their way in and picked up Nancy so she could help too. All was going well until the rain started and that just shut down the painting. The clearing, log splitting, cleaning still went on. Luckily most of the mowing was done before the rain. We ended up inside her house for lunch, delicious pizza, enough and more for the workers. A working camera would have had lots of use today. Taunya and Ben brought Jack's 1st birthday cake over for dessert. Then came the volley ball games, there was enough players for 3 full teams so the losing team would rotate out.
Wynne and Max were picked up around 1:00pm. It was funny to hear our horses when they were being loaded. They started calling to Wynne as if to say, "don't go, we like you."
Mark left to pick up flooring for the farm house kitchen while mom and I took Nancy home.

Piper is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to mention one thing though that I really, really hope doesn't offend because it isn't meant to be snarky at all. I don't like to teach a horse to park out for mounting . . . they can't support their backs properly that way. Please use a mounting block!! Especially on a young horse. Good luck with her! Sounds like she'll be fun to train. :D
