Airiah Update
The filly survived the night, Karin stayed and reported the filly would walk right over to her bed for a bottle every time she got hungry. They were not able to milk Airiah and this morning her udder is flat, nothing in there to feed this baby, that and the fact she still won't allow her to nurse was very discouraging. Their vet finally called them and finally the decision was made to haul Airiah and the new filly down to the University of Illinois large animal clinic. Hopefully they can get this mare lactating and accepting her baby. The filly needs a snap test to find out if she received enough colostrum as they have had her on calf and foal milk replacer. The only bright spot right now is Airiah is curious about the foal and spending more time looking at her.
Karin drove the Moser's van over to Hanna City to pick up the stock trailer. They will travel to UofI with Airiah locked in the front and the filly in the back. It is almost a 3 hour trip for them from their farm.
