New Roof
David was the first to arrive but soon Phil, Ben, Joszef, & Austin joined in on the fun. While the men were working on the farm house roof, the women were out shopping at the Lake Camelot garage sales. Mark and I had to head in to Peoria for Eunice Unsicker's funeral. The weather was hot and sunny, up on the new metal roof the temperatures were pushing 100 degrees Fahrenheit making it miserable for the workers.
It didn't help that the pitch was so steep. The women got back in time to pick up pizza from Casey's for lunch.
Even with the air on it was hard to cool down after working so hard. After lunch, Dave and Stephanie left for their 3 week drive across this huge country on their way to Mexico. The grandkids were put down for a nap.
Like that was really going to work!
Sarah, Anna, Taunya and Addyson headed over to the playground to finish painting the equipment.
Last Saturday this was one job that was put off because of the rain. Mark and that handy skid steer headed over to finish the fence line.
We are now ready to string it, holes will be dug once marked.
The guys finished one side of the roof then had to quit for the day. Everyone came in to cool off even the dogs. Jack was enthralled with Emma.
Mark and I headed over to the farm house to finish moving the flooring from the bed of the truck into one of the upstairs bedrooms. Diane's family came over with a 4 wheeler, golf cart and Paris.
Three of her grand children had a lesson on Paris, each getting to trot with Willow even cantering.
Below is Ella on Paris, what a smile!
Tate is a typical cowboy, he likes to run.
Below is Willow practicing barrels.
Karin stopped by at dark to pick up her car and dog. She was helping stucco Rachel's rental house all day and was filthy and tired. Everyone is going to sleep well tonight.

It’s great that you have chosen to install metal roofs. Those are definitely perfect for the hot climate because metal roofs lose any gained heat quickly when the sun sets or goes behind a cloud or even when a slight breeze blows. Also, metal roofs are wind resistant and durable. I wonder how your roof looks now. I bet it looks even more beautiful.

What a lovely family you have, Judy! :) Good choice on the metal roofing. Mary has a point. Metal roofing is easy to maintain and can withstand even the harshest weather conditions. Known for its durability and strength, it doesn’t easily crack, split or burn. Metal roofing also has a life expectancy of 50 years or more.

I like your new roof. A metal roof is certainly good for heat reduction because metal reflects radiant heat from the sun, and it can reduce the intense midday heat. Anyway, you have a beautiful home. May I see some photos of your house with that new metal roof installed?

The house where I grew up also had metal roofing. one of my fondest memories at my parents' house was during the rainy season. The sound of raindrops hitting the metal roofing is music to my ears. :) I always associate that sound with a lullaby that I used to listen to when I was younger.

Your roof looks good! “A metal roof is certainly good for heat reduction because metal reflects radiant heat from the sun…” – I agree with this, Santo! In addition, what I like about metal roofing is its high resistance to harsh weather conditions such as a hail storm.

I agree with you, Joanne. Plus, rain water cannot absolutely penetrate through a good-shaped metal roof; thus, preventing your roof from any structural and serious damages.

With the help of your buddies, I’m sure the outcome could be better than what you’d been expecting. I mean, it would turn out to be great and without any problem. I’m a bit excited with the playground that you’ve been planning to build. The kids will have the best days of their lives on your home if it’s finally done! =) Nice work everyone!

Looks like they’re all working so hard to get that roof finished immediately. It’s so hot up in there, but they could still stand the temperature. It’s good that you chose to have a metal roof. That’s a very durable type of roofing materials. In fact, this kind of roof can last for 50 years or more.

There’s nothing like the sound of the rain on your metal roof, but nothing can be more frustrating when it leaks. With metal roofing, a regular maintenance should be conducted to prevent damages on your roof and house at the same time. Oh by the way, metal roof is excellent for corrosion-resistant and heat reflectivity, which results to a lower energy load.

Good choice with the metal roof! Did you know that metal roofs have classic benefits aside from its common benefits? It has concealed benefits for weather tightness, which means, it is highly secured against harsh weathers. Also, it has Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000 coatings that are extremely good gloss and provide color retention. In fact, metal roofs are used on prominent buildings around the world, such as the Petronas Tower in Malaysia and the Taipei 101 in Taiwan.

The roof looks good. The good thing about metal roofs is they don’t get molds and moss growth, just like asphalt shingles. You won’t have to worry about dangerous and risky roof cleaning. Just watch out for rust and corrosion, and be sure to patch them up when needed.
ReplyDeleteMax Boughner
I'm afraid the two men on the roof did not wear helmets. That could be dangerous, Judy. Those who would be working on the roof should have their safety gear on before going up there because we never know when accidents might occur. Anyway, it's good to know that no one was injured. :) Congratulations on your new roof!
ReplyDeleteWill Peartin
Metal roofs are sturdy and dependable. I agree with Mr. Boughner that they don’t get molds and moss, but it would also be advisable to do some roof re-coating after a while. Roofs are coated with an anti-corrosive coat as part of the manufacturing process, and this coat wears off after some time. Re-applying protective coating to the metal roof can help prevent corrosion.

Hmm, the two men should have worn safety gear. Construction workers should always have their safety gear, especially their helmets to protect their heads should anything go wrong. I am just glad no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteLue Madson
Put everything that can pose a danger to someone at one safe place, Judy. This would definitely minimize the chances of accidents. I certainly agree with almost all of those who commented here, by the way.

ReplyDeleteThe state of California has a particular licensing process for roofers. To get a state license and become a licensed roofing contractor in California, one needs to obtain a C-39 license before contracting any roofing jobs over the amount of $500.00. If the work is performed without a license, the homeowner may be stuck with unsatisfactory results and have no way to get assistance to correct the problems. If a licensed roofing contractor has problems that relate to unfinished work or the work is faulty in any way, the homeowner or property owner can at least file a claim against the roofing contractor's performance bond for the cost of repairs, damages or unfinished work that must be still be completed. Obtaining a bond is a prerequisite before any license will be issued and it must be in good standing and renewed every two years or the contractor's license could be revoked.

Looks like everyone had fun, especially the kids! I agree with Tristan, that though the metal roof is hard and is known for low-maintenance, it would still be wise to keep an eye for any damage. This, of course, would demand you to go to the roof and do some work. It would also be just fine to hire some professionals to do the job for you.
