Cor Arianna
Today was a much needed stay at home, clean, and do laundry day. Even the dogs beds were washed and hung outside to dry. They have a down comforter that according to the girls was starting to smell like dare I say it dog! The temperatures outside were soaring to the high 80s with winds, such ferocious wind gusts that the barns are groaning, creaking and during a huge gust we were sure the barn was shaking. We lost electricity for a bit. The bedding dried very quickly out in that bright sunshine and high winds. Cor Arianna arrived this afternoon. Her owner is still debating on which stallion to use but leaning more towards Evan. Cor Arianna is every bit of 17 hands. Pictures of her were taken for a reference. She is a bit underweight and we don't want her losing any while she is here.
She is a lovely mare with a wonderful disposition and will be a good cross with which ever stallion her owner decides on. We are to let her owner know when she starts to show and the final decision will be made at that time.
Her owner is from Kentucky and brought us a box of peaches and another box full of vine ripened tomatoes with a few sweet vandalia onions inside. A tomato sandwich was the lunch menu and guess what Mark got for dinner, you guessed it a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich on toasted all grain bread. What a special treat.
After dinner it was back to work. The boy's paddock needed a new bale and we moved another bale in the middle paddock. The mares in that paddock are big eaters specially Ribbon. Jenis, Eliza, Ciera and Airiah join her in munching down the hay. They can wipe out a bale in 2-3 days. We put a bale ring around both of the bales in that paddock and will see if that slows them down any.
