Empty House

We had a beautiful cool morning for our walk. We were all talking so much mom couldn't get a word in and finally made us all stop walking so she could talk. We do so much laughing on these walks.  After the walk I ran into town to finish the shopping for church lunch. When I got back all 4 sides were up on the barn.

Spark has the trencher out and has been digging the trench from the transformer to the electrical panel.
I took the pictures above on my way over to mom's. She wanted to get AC Central up on her phone and had lost the app. I couldn't find the app but was able to pull it up on the web. She wanted to listen to Doyle Frauhiger when he was visiting Lacrosse, Indiana. This was a very good sermon for anyone struggling with depression. Doyle shared some of his reactions when he was very sick with covid. Later I stopped in again and mom was listening to Craig Stickling when he visited Lacrosse.  I sure appreciate AC Central. I snapped the picture below as I was heading home the second time. The barn almost looks like a church.
The apartment is being used tonight for a  couple single brothers from Indiana here for Proclaim and Serve so that needed to have a once over, treats put in the kitchen and the lights turned on as they will be coming in after dark.  Diane is also keeping 2 couples and Joan is going to make breakfast for all of the guests out here tomorrow morning then take them back to church. Registration was at 6:30 pm tonight with the workshops starting at 7:00 pm and each lasting 2 to 3 hours. Joan is going to have a very late night.  Speaking of Joan the 2011 camper went out tonight, leaving for a 2 week trip out West. Joan called to report the hitch on the renter's vehicle was too high so we needed to find a ball with a drop. Thankful we had extra of those. That was taken over, put on and off he went. He drove all the way from Wisconsin to rent that camper and told me he was SO happy he found it. He didn't want to take anything big and fancy and this was perfect.
The other two trailers are also out on rental this weekend.  The couple coming to look at Mayberry and Dana arrived this evening and came over to meet them. I think they will have a hard decision to make, both of these fillies are really sweet and good looking. They aren't kept in bubble wrap and not even groomed up but their beauty shines through. This is a hard choice.

The storms started rolling in this evening so the horses were brought from the cabin field. The 2 yearlings put in the middle paddock to be with the mares and foals while Indy and Oksana were put in the indoor for the night. Indy's udder was quite full and tight, No waxing but I sure don't want to take a chance of her delivering out in the storm.

Today when bringing in groceries I couldn't help but think of Emma. She would stick her head out the dog door, make sure it was our car then come ambling out to see if I bought something for her. She loved the chicken from Sam's. Then tonight I was opening cans of tuna and automatically drained the cans into a bowl for Emma. The house just seems so empty without her. Mark and I are empty nesters for the very first time since we had our first child 44 years ago.
