Mom is feeling better, well enough to walk over to Joan's and back for our morning exercise. Today the inspector came to make sure the solar system holes were to code. As soon as he gave the ok, the cement people were called and a cement truck was on the way. I ran to Sam's Club early this morning, we were almost out of dog food and needed groceries. From there to TEMCO to pick up the Berean mail. There was not as much as yesterday so tomorrow should be an easy day. As soon as I got home the Middle paddock was opened to let those mares out in the pond pasture. I'm teasing Galena, Ayanna and Soul and only Galena showed today. She was covered yesterday so no work for either stallion. The mares and foals had a good time galloping around and grazing. The grass is coming up great.
Above is Ayanna and her colt by Evan and below is Galena and Soul's colts.
Below they are heading across the dam.
Galena was too busy grazing to notice the rest of the mares and foals leaving.
Anna, her colt and Hadassah's filly were racing.
The local goose family hatched out 5 goslings and were not happy that the horses came over to their side of the pond.
Galena finally realized she had been left and took off running.
Galena's colt and Soul's colt were having fun galloping around while their mothers grazed.
Foxy and her filly were taken out for graining. Foxy needs extra grain as she has lost weight since her filly was born. They enjoyed the grass.
Foxy's filly took a big bite then made a funny face but went right back to tasting everything including the dandylions.
Below Anna and Ayanna walked into the pond for a drink.
Galena was up teasing Evan.
Ayanna and her colt getting a drink out of the pond.
They all wandered back into the paddock when the sun got hot. They like the shade there.
Star's was limping on her left front today. She was taken into the stall area and her hooves cleaned out. I couldn't see that she stepped on anything and was suspicious it may be an abscess but couldn't find any real tender spots. Jewel and her filly were taken into the stall as the filly's owner Maria was coming to visit. Before we went to the stall though I was letting Jewel graze and her filly was exploring the gravel pile.
Sarah arrived with Zion and puppies. The puppies had a vet appointment today to get checked over and their dew claws removed. I made arrangements with Maria, Jewel's filly's owner, to go with Sarah then come back here to show her Evan. Meanwhile she spent time with Jewel and her filly then visited all the other horses while waiting for me to get back. Evan was taken out when I got back. He was pretty low key and didn't show off at all, not even one buck. Maria made the comment, "the horses are more impressive in real life than their pictures." That is always nice to hear. Karin trained at Middle Grove today. She called to say all are doing well but she saw some ticks on Jenis. The ticks are very bad this year. I've pulled one off me and one off Mark in the last 2 days. If anyone knows what keeps ticks off horses PLEASE call or email to let me know what to try.
Mark was here all afternoon helping with the cement truck so this evening he went back to the shop to get his real work done.
