Lightning and Thunder

Around 2:00 am Emma came in our bedroom needing assurance that all was well. At that time I could see lots of flashes of lightning but not hear any thunder and it wasn't raining. I walked into the rec-room to let Emma outside when the flashes got very bright and the thunder booming. And then a huge strike with instant crash of thunder. This one even woke up Mark.  He sat straight up in bed and wondered if we had been hit.  The rain started up shortly after that and we didn't get near as much as we had hoped getting less than a half inch by morning. The rain had stopped by our walking time.
Today was laundry day but between loads I ran up to the barn to get a few pictures.  This is really our office  but it is sure convenient when waiting for a mare to foal.
I love staying here. That wood burner easily kept the entire office toasty. So toasty that sometimes Mark would come home from work and open the door to get cool the place off.  The futon opens to a queen size bed that is very comfortable.
The main bedroom has a queen size bed, 2 dressers and a nice big closet.
Rhoda bought a sectional for the other room and that's the room The kids use for a media room.
The couch is comfortable to sleep on and the television is hooked up directly to the foaling monitors so we can watch in comfort.
It just has one bathroom but that has a big walk in shower and a surprise feature.
When the bathroom door is shut there is a full size washer and dryer behind the door.
Below is the back door which opens into the stall area.
We have 3 big foaling stalls in this aisle along with 2 regular stalls.
Right now I only have Jewel and her 2 day old filly in a stall. We will be bringing Madeira in at night once she starts waxing.  Her udder is still flat so no hurry for that. No outside pictures today, with the rain, the horses are muddy again. A little mud is a small price to pay for good green growing pastures. We are hoping for more.
This evening Spark, Rhonda, Ruth and I all ended up at mom's house, not for games, just for visiting. Diane and Beth are down in Gulf Shores again, this time for Diane's condo business meeting. Mark worked on chopping out weeds in the pastures. We have some thistles coming up in the mare pasture he wanted to get out before they get big and go to seed.
