Success

On our walk today I stopped to take a picture of Mike's new project.  He is changing out the gas engine of the John Deere tractor to a diesel engine and needed a place to work this winter.

This is attached to his shop, he can open the door to the shop now have more than double the space and it is heated. So convenient and plenty of room to work on the tractor. I left for Middle Grove with the truck and trailer right after the walk and today was successful but not for the first trip.  I arrived there around 9:00 am and the horses were all up on top of the hill by the first gate.
I grabbed a halter and lead rope and started hiking. At the top of the hill was Jewel busy grazing.
I didn't stop to look over the horses but took a few pictures.  Indy was up grazing near Missy while her colt was down by the salt blocks. He ran up to nurse as I was hiking up to her.  She was haltered and he followed us half way down the hill then ran back up to the herd. Indy was brought down and tied at the trailer. She called a few times and he called back but he wouldn't leave the herd as he just had nursed. I waited about an hour then loaded Indy up and took her home so I could get their stall ready. At 2:30 pm she was put back in the trailer and taken to Middle Grove. This time there were no horses in sight so the truck and trailer was taken about half way to the far hill and turned around before unloading Indy.  The ground is now too soft to drive up to the big field. Indy was led up the hill. The horses were almost to the big lake but she called and the colt heard her. It had been almost 5 hours since he nursed and he came galloping. I had to lead her down the hill quickly not letting her stop until she was loaded. He stopped and almost ran back but when she called to him he came to the trailer and jumped in. The door was shut and I was on my way back. They were put in the freshly bedded stall with plenty of hay, two full buckets of water and a scoop of grain.

He really is a handsome colt and at 5 months of age quite tall and thick. No wonder Indy has been losing weight nursing this big boy. Tomorrow is weaning day for him. Indy will be taken back out to Middle Grove for a vacation. If you would like to see the rest of the pictures from today click HERE. Mark got home about the time I got back from Middle Grove and walked over to check the barn. The insulators were here and got more done but did not finish. They will need to come back again. We left for church at 6:15 pm. David had the message, a review of his lessons on Jesus in the Psalms. IF you would like to see and hear this message click HERE. Ruth and Fedi made it home from their cruise. When they got to the airport in Florida though all domestic flights were shut down.  NOTAM was down.  Officials ultimately found a corrupt file in the main Notice to Air Mission's or NOTAM,.NOTAM was down. They finally got it up and running.  Ruth sent a text, "Just landed in gray cloudy cold Peoria!"  The second text from her,  "It's ok, your dummy personalities make up for it 😊"  The third text,  "Sunny not dummy, no reading glasses on!" Joan responded with "HA! Way to add insult to injury! Not only are we in this gray cloudy cold area but we're dummies for living here too." Diane sent, "Sure Ruth, nice recovery 😉
