Before we left Rhoda's last night David helped Mark pick a hotel in Paducah, KY which was a little more than 4 hours away. Rhoda helped Mark book a room at the Baymont INN, we had stayed in this very same hotel years ago and liked it. We arrived there at 10:45 pm and were anxious to crash but no one was at the desk. Mark called the phone number and before long a man from India came to check us in. He gave us a key for room 124, just a few rooms down from the reception desk. Mark slid in the key card, pulled it out and I started opening the door and immediately noticed tooth paste, make up, tooth brushes, hair brushes and lots of other stuff on the bathroom sink. My mind thinks, WOW this hotel really supplies the guests with EVERYTHING! As the door opened a little wider a dog barked, a woman screamed and we realized there were LOTS of people sleeping in that room. We slammed the door quickly, the man that gave us the key card heard all the commotion came running up apologizing explaining he would give us another room. We were both shocked. He took us to a room the other directions again just a few rooms down from the reception desk and this time HE opened the door. We were thankful there was no one in this room. We unpacked while we could hear a heated argument going on from the poor people we had disturbed and the poor man. I was going to jump in the shower when I noticed the toilet had been used but not cleaned. Instead of showering found the only wash cloth, at least it was clean and cleaned up as best as I could from the clean bathroom sink fell into bed but on the WRONG side of the bed. After struggling to just ignore that it was the wrong side I finally told Mark it just wasn't right, climbed out of bed, shoved him over and got in on the correct side of the bed. At 3:00 am Mark got up because he was cold and that woke me up. I made some coffee with the packet provided but when the water went through the coffee looked like dirty creek water, see through but tinted brown. The packet of coffee must have been years old. We decided to leave, packed up and hoped there would be coffee in the area that the advertised breakfast was supposed to be but the same Indian man told us because of Covid there was no breakfast and no coffee. At 4:00 am we were back in the car without even a drop of caffeine. I could only drive an hour that way, found a Waffle House and pulled in for a good hot breakfast AND coffee even ordering a large to go. The drive was an easy 9 hours today. We stopped at Arbys when we got into Gulf Shores and bought Gyros for our lunch then headed to the condo. By 2:00 pm we had lunch eaten, the car unloaded and hauled up the 32 stairs. We are both going to be in shape after this trip. We walked over to mom's new condo meeting Dan and Kayla on the walk over. Funny how we drive almost a thousand miles and the first people we run into are from Peoria. We enjoyed seeing everyone at mom's and checked out the new condo. The views are amazing! Mark walked back to Ben and Taunya's condo while I went with mom and Joan to Walmart for groceries. This evening I downloaded all the pictures from the Christmas party and posted them on yesterday's post. We are not going to have supper tonight but enjoyed a small bowl of Blue Bunny ice cream which Rhonda highly recommended. The lady that bought an Evan/Zalena son sent the picture below. He is NOW UNDER SADDLE. This is Floyd T:
