Productive Morning

At 6:30 am the horses were fed and the teasing started. Lily's filly was dancing around the indoor arena, galloping and bucking. She is such a strong filly. Below is a picture I took of her right after I had them in the stall after her birth 2 days ago. I didn't take the camera out with me this morning.
She is just perfect. Jewel is for sure in her foal heat the only thing I had to figure out was to how to get her covered with no extra paddocks.  The weanlings were fed their grain in the back paddock of the breeding shed, then Jewel's colt put in the front paddock. Once Jewel was tied the colt stayed up at the fence so the gate was pushed shut against the shed keeping the weanlings in the back paddock.  Evan was brought over and the cover went without any drama.  Next was Irish. She is finally in and showed. Valiant was brought out and covered her.  Since both stallions were used today I didn't tease any other mares.  Mark put the bush hog on the tractor and started mowing the pasture while the sun was shining. He not only mowed all 3 of the pastures, he also mowed completely around the hay fields.
Nolan and Sarah brought Zion over while they went to the Lake Camelot garage sales.  Zion had a very good time playing.
She had fun going in and out of Emma's dog door.
Nolan and Sarah were going to go the carnival going on in Hanna City when it opened except before they could leave a storm rolled in, a big storm with lightning, thunder and lots of rain. Kabur, Sarah Reinhard's dog, jumped in their van as they were trying to load up for home. He is evidently afraid of the thunder.  What I didn't know is that he climbed in Emma's dog door and hid under my desk.  It was pretty dark in the room with the storm. I sat down at the desk, moved the chair up and my feet hit something warm and furry. Yep, I jumped.
It was so dark that I had to use the flash to actually get a picture.
He was welcome to stay until the storm was over. It dropped over an inch of rain.  After the rain stopped Mark and I drove to Sam's Club to pick up food for tomorrow's meal and a new battery for the new mower.  On the way home we stopped to pick up the mail getting mom's also, and when we took it to her, she invited us for supper. Mom made asparagus with hollandaise sauce and hard boiled eggs. That was served with a side of chicken. The meal was delicious.
This evening Ruth, Fedi, Sarah Reinhard and I went to mom's for games. Fedi beat us all.
A very nice review came in from the two ladies that stayed in the apartment last weekend. “Judy’s place is fantastic. The apartment is clean and spacious, with lots of options, and both the bed and futon were very comfy. Delicious cookies and everything you need to use the kitchen and laundry if you want. The setting is beautiful, and being close to such amazing horses was a dream come true. I’ll always remember the great blue heron taking off from the pond with the mares and new foals grazing nearby. Having the run of this heavenly place is a privilege for which my daughter and I will always be grateful. A great place to enjoy the outdoors both where you stay and at the many parks in the area.”  She sent me a private message saying this:  Thank you for a wonderful weekend, couldn't have been better.
Jamie, the lady that owns a Raven daughter out of Paris an Arabian mare and a 2 year old Valiant daughter out of her Percheron/Saddlebred mare Dakota sent the pictures below. This is Legacy, out of Dakota by Valiant and isn't she gorgeous!

Legacy turned out so beautiful that Jamie is bringing Dakota back in June to breed her back to Valiant. As I always say, "Why mess with success!"
Diane, the owner of an Evan daughter also sent a picture stating Love my Evan baby so smart and athletic.
It is really wonderful to get updates from past customers. Diane's mare had been taken to another Friesian stallion to be bred over and over and when she could never get her mare pregnant she brought her to us. One cover and the mare settled.
