Zephyr

Diane drove her van today to the Berean office. We had a really good day there getting everything done for the week. Over 800 Bibles were mailed out this week. To read about our day there click HERE.
As soon as I got home the udders were checked on all the mares due soon. This job didn't get done this morning. Both Star and Ayanna are pretty bagged up. They will need to be stalled at night and then put in a paddock next to the barn during the day until they deliver. To do this I needed to take a load out to Middle Grove. Emily helped load 3 mares and off we drove. We are really enjoying this new to us trailer, it pulls very nicely even loaded with big mares like Whitney. She will be taken out for a month or so then brought in when we bring Anna in for breeding. Jenis was also taken out. Karin was out working horses when we arrived. Walking through the woods the  damage was obvious from Tuesday's night tornado. The tree below was split in two.

Thankfully all the horses were fine. They were up on the hillside grazing on the new green grass.
Below is Karin giving Winston a treat. He is such a sweet friendly colt.
Emily went over to pet Hadassah, Whistler, Sheena's colt followed her over hoping for some of that free petting. He is another really nice colt Both Winston and Whistler are registered with Friesian Heritage Horse, both are by Valiant and both will be tall.
Sangria is looking pretty big even though she is not due until June 11th. She was enjoying the warm sunshine, drowsing away the afternoon.

We decided after checking Ella over that it was past time to wean her colt, Zephyr. Zephyr is 7 months old and more than ready to wean. Emily led Ella while I followed behind Zephyr making sure he stayed with her. He is a very handsome fellow, right now a bright bay but will probably end up a dark bay like his brother did. We were amazed at his movement and decided to make a video of him as soon as we got home for the website.
Of course we don't just drive straight home when B's is open. We stopped for a small vanilla cone. B's has the best soft serve. When we got home Ella and Zephyr were taken right out to the arena. Check out his movement on the video below:
Once that was done the still camera was used for a few pictures. Notice how high all 4 hooves are off the ground. This boy has suspension.

We put him in a stall then Emily loaded Ella up and drove her to Ruth's house where she will spend a week before heading back out to Middle Grove. Right after she left though Zephyr crashed into the wall, knocked down the stall boards into the wood pile and came running out to find his mom. He went running into the arena where he saw her last so the gate was shut. I stayed out there with him until Emily brought Lola over and put her in with him. Lola is so kind to the foals. He came running up to her and hooked up, following her back into the stall barn where he was again stalled. This time we stayed a bit to make sure he would settle down. Poor kid, he lost his mom, then was locked up. with Star in the stall next to him and Ayanna across the aisle. I have the barn monitor on and all is well. We will be heading to bed, tomorrow I need to leave at 6:00 am to pick up Israel. What a great day.
