Old Farmington Library

I only got one round of walk in before leaving for Anna's to watch the girls. As soon as Phil arrived to take over, a trip to Sams was done mainly to pick up dog food although one just doesn't go to Sam's Club for just dog food when strawberries are on sale. Mark was already home from work when I got here with a car load of groceries and helped unload. That was such a nice treat, I think from now on the shopping should be done after work so there is help unloading the many loads. Although how can two people have 'that' many loads. We were only home long enough to take care of the horses before picking up Spark and Phil. Phil's girls were so surprised to see me come back and all came running out of the garage in their bare feet.
The old Farmington Library was auctioned off last week and Spark was the high bidder. The building needs a new furnace so we wanted Phil to go along and figure out what would work best.
This building has a lot of history, as the corner stone states it was built in 1906. The city of Farmington felt it was too small and built a big $4,000,000.00 library of course with tax money.
If you were to look at the new building it would be hard to figure out how it is even possible to spend FOUR MILLION on that building but that is another story for another time. The picture below is from the back of the old library.
This building has 2 floors, the picture below is of the upstairs.
Check out the curlicue wood work on the posts.
It also has a small fireplace on the upper floor.
Both floors have basically 2 big rooms each. John is hoping to put a kitchen in the lower floor and some day open a soup kitchen there. Karin, Jackie and John are using the top floor right now to have public reading of the Bible Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Below is the main room on the lower floor.
Below Mark is looking over the furniture that had been left in the library.
When we stopped at Phils to drop him off the girls came running over. Anna had all three girls with her out in the barn, the one pictured below, while we were gone.
After dropping off Phil we drove to mom's to borrow her battery charger for the skid steer but it wasn't there. We drove next to Spark's and he looked through his barn and garage. The last house on that road was Joan's and that is where we found a charger. Joan isn't home and since it looked like mom's we borrowed it. Mark spent the rest of the daylight working on pot holes and moving gravel around. None of the mares are waxing yet so all were left out for the evening. Zephyr was fed and watered. We will have an early night tonight.
