Emma's Sick

Emma isn't feeling well.  Yesterday she was laying around more than usual but still seemed to have an appetite cleaning out the green bean and the mashed potato pans after the picnic. Today she didn't want her hot dog. Emma has never turned down food. She isn't bloated and is not panting, and doesn't seem to be in pain just tired. I've been bringing her water, but she slobbers when drinking so put a towel under her head. She is still going outside for bathroom breaks but then comes right back in and lays down. She will be 13 years old in September and the lifespan of an English Mastiff is only 8-10 years.  Rhoda was sent a video of her and recommended just to wait and see.

I drove down to the Peoria post office to pick up the Berean mail a little later than usual not arriving until 10:00 am and was pleased there was only 1 person in line in front of me, not much waiting today. On the way home stopped at the bank to deposit the check for Galena then stopped at Diane's office to reconcile the Horsemeister check book. They had storm damage too. The picture below was taken from inside her patio.
Our air-condition stopped working last night and Mark was not able to get it fixed. He went to Walmart and bought a window unit for the living room until the part can come in. Thankfully the heat spell seems to be over. It was refreshingly cool on our walk and while working outside today. Belle, the outside mare was teased and she is now out. Her owner was sent the good news and he came today to pick her up which opens up a much needed paddock. Madiera was teased and she is still saying no. I must have missed her foal heat. Below are Jewel and Madiera sharing a bale with their 2 colts both by Evan.
I drove over to the cabin field to check the horses there and they were all content munching away on their bale we put in yesterday.
When Mark got home he went to work with the chain saw to open up our driveway.
Soon the chain saw was set down and he went to get the 'real' tool for the job.
While he was working I was admiring our flowers on the patio. The Day Lilly's are all blooming as is the yucca plant.

The marigolds were blooming when Mark planted them.
The horses in the pond pasture were grazing up by the house this evening. Below are Lily and her filly.
Tatiana, her filly and Madiera and her colt were enjoying the grass too.
Tatiana's filly walked over to play with Madiera's colt just as he was laying down.
It was almost too dark to get the pictures.

They soon stopped and each walked back to his or her mama.
The sun reflecting off the clouds was unusual tonight. I called Mark back out to see them.

A very nice review came in from our airbnb guest: “If you are looking for a different stay- this is it! We went for one night to get the kids out of the house and I couldn’t have picked a better stay. My twins were delighted with being so close to the horse stalls and staying on a horse farm. We walked the farm and enjoyed looking at all the horses and even had a chance to feed them. Judith was very attentive and hospitable! We felt quite comfortable! The apartment was very clean and had all the necessities, just enough space for our family of four. The apartment sits on the back of farm, you have horse views through almost every window. Loved it! If you read the other reviews then you already know about the cookies and are awaiting your arrival! The BEST! Such a yummy treat after our long drive! Will definitely be back!”
They also sent the note below just for me.
“Thank you so much for your hospitality! My boys absolutely loved your horses and can’t wait to be back! My husband especially enjoyed the cookies! 😊”
Rosaleigh and her colt were moved into a stall tonight. Not because of bad weather. We are expecting more airbnb guests and this one has a horse loving daughter. They are coming in late and have to leave in the morning so I told the mom, they just need to walk out the back door of the apartment to see the newest colt. They still haven't arrived but I left the stall lights on for them.
