Berlica's Birthday Party

It was deliciously cool this morning, less humidity and just 68 degrees. Rosaleigh was brought out of the stall and she had a little wax on each teat.  The stall was easy to clean today, much easier than when the thermometer is reading in the 90s with high humidity.  Joan was late this morning. It is Berlica's birthday and the tradition in their house is the birthday person gets breakfast in bed. Joan was kind of waiting to see if she would wake up but when Berlica slept in Joan came running and met us at the bottom of the hill again. On our walk Mike had Ripper out so showed us the trick he was working on with him. He would throw his hat down and ask Ripper to pick it up.

Well done Ripper. After the walk mom and I left early so we could stop at Casey's for fresh baked donuts for the Berean volunteers. That didn't work out so well, if you would like to read about the donut shortage and our morning at Berean click HERE. We were done there by 11:00 and stopped at the Hanna City Post office to drop off the Bibles. When we got home I went right to work outside moving a new bale into the pond pasture then putting Jewel and her filly back in with that group of mares and foals. Jewel is now out of her foal heat. I took a few pictures of the foals there for the website. Jewel's colt was playing in the flowers.
Below is Tatiana's filly.
Below is Hadassah and her filly.
Below is Madiera's colt.
They were glad for the bale and pretty much surrounded it.
IF you want to see the rest of the pictures of the foals click HERE. Mark wanted to start cleaning out the middle paddock so Rosaleigh and Galena were moved into the field with Lily and her filly.
Rosaleigh was grazing away when the wind picked up a bit of the cover on the new barn trusses laying in that field blew up into the air..
She was on high alert but it didn't bother Galena or Lily.

She soon settled down to graze and ended up right next to them.

Berlica's birthday party was ready to start so I took the golf cart over to get a picture of her cake which she designed, baked AND decorated herself.
They were holding the party out on the lawn.

They went swimming and canoeing a bit later.

Mark got home and was ready to work. I used the skid steer to fill the manure spreader while he drove the tractor to spread the manure. As I was filling the spreader he would work on taking net wrap off that would get tangled in the spreader.

It is a big job but a necessary one. We worked tonight until 7:00 pm then quit to head inside to watch and listen to Peoria's VBS. I still need to head out to put Rosaleigh in a foaling stall for tonight.
