Skye Covered

We had another hot day with a high of 93 so the mares were teased early, even before breakfast. Sheena is now out but Skye is in.
I needed to wait until this evening to get her covered as she is a maiden mare. Mike and Diane came over at 8:20 pm to help with that job and Evan got the job done. She will be teased again tomorrow but not covered again until Saturday if she is still in. Her foal by Evan will be fantastic. I'm still waiting for Rosaleigh to show. Karin came early today for trail rides. The riders and horses were Karin riding Ripper, Ellie riding Sangria, Faith riding Sally, Taegan riding Missy, Kensley riding Cookie and Berlica riding Ayanna. Below are a few pictures of their ride.

Braelyn, Addyson and Abe waited on the golf cart for the horses to come back across the creek.
Below is a short video of the ride.

After the ride the horses were untacked and taken over to Joan's house for a cool down swim across the lake.
Kensley is too young to do the swim so Braelyn got to take her place.
Kensley, Zion, Addyson, Abe and I took the golf cart over to the playground side of the lake to watch the horses swim across.

Joan was busy mowing the hill side going down to the lake.
Below is the video of their swim. This was Braelyn and Taegan's very first time to swim with the horses. Both did very well but Taegan wasn't quite centered when Missy started walking up the bank and slid off her horse. No harm done.
Faith, Ellie and Braelyn on their horses waiting for Taegan to mount back up.
Below is Berlica and Ayanna. Ayanna will be leaving for her new home on Sunday. We will miss her. She has been an awesome mare for us. She was born here 10 years ago and we have enjoyed her tremendously.
Below are all 6 horses heading back to the cabin with their very happy riders.
When they got back to the cabin field each horse was sprayed down for flies before putting back in the field.

Below Berlica is saying good by to Ayanna.
I left for Sam's club after lunch picking up the meal for tomorrow. We are celebrating Anna's birthday and Mark's 70th birthday. When I got back and the food was put away I put my swim suit on and headed over to join all the grandchildren swimming there except they all were coming here for lunch. I went swimming anyway. It was too hot to do much of anything else. Mark got home late from work today. After supper Mike and Diane came over to help get Skye covered just before the storm hit. It is pouring right now with much needed much appreciated RAIN!
